  • Macy’s to help clothe the needy

    Macy’s is committed to giving back this winter through its “Buy 1 & We’ll Give 1” effort. Through October 26, Macy’s will donate one coat, up to 50,000 coats, to Clothe4Souls for every coat purchased in the men’s, women’s, juniors’ and children’s departments in Macy’s stores and on macys.com.

    The joy of giving will also be a joy of saving, as Macy’s will offer 30-50% discount on a large selection of men’s, women’s and children’s coats during the campaign.

    Queens, N.Y. -- Airport retail developer MarketPlace Development is opening new shops, restaurants and services as part of an overall plan to upgrade the Food & Shops program at Terminal B in LaGuardia Airport as planning continues on a new terminal.
  • SKECHERS finds new beat with Ringo

    The legendary Beatle Ringo Starr will be bringing his talents and style to SKECHERS where he’s agreed to appear in the footwear company’s global marketing campaign for SKECHERS Relaxed Fit footwear.  The new multimedia campaign featuring Ringo will begin in Spring 2015.   World’s most famous drummer will be a face and voice of the campaign which will kick off with a new television spot that adopts the humorous as a signature of the Relaxed Fit footwear commercials.   
  • Body scanners aren’t just for the TSA anymore

    A company called Artec Group has developed 3D software and hardware that creates a potential revenue opportunity for retailers by allowing users to create miniature replicas of themselves.

    The company has introduced the Shapify Booth which is capable of creating a full scan of a person or object in 12 seconds and then producing a detailed 3D model called a “Shapie.”

  • West Elm to open in Washington, D.C.

    New  York -- West Elm, a division of Williams-Sonoma, will open a store in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Oct. 23rd. Located in Logan Circle, the more than 14,500-sq.-ft. store will feature a curated selection of products made by artists located in the D.C. area through West Elm’s Local initiative, which taps into local entrepreneurship.

    Hallmar has partnered with Toys for Tots and pledged to donate $1.5 million in toys and funds to the organization this holiday season.

    For 50 years, watching the television classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has been a holiday tradition for millions of families. This holiday season, Hallmark Gold Crown stores will be full of ways to celebrate the generous spirit of Rudolph and give back through a partnership with Toys for Tots.
