Take that Amazon: TGI Fridays deploys in-store “Mobile Mistletoe” drones
Carrollton, Texas – Consumers who dread getting caught under the mistletoe may want to avoid their local TGI Fridays for a while. The restaurant chain has launched a “Mobile Mistletoe” campaign whereby a Mobile Mistletoe drone will appear in select restaurant locations, hovering over couples until they lock lips.
Inspired by the pilot program at the TGI Fridays Manchester Royal Exchange restaurant in the U.K., Fridays is extending the promotion to some restaurants here in the U.S. When they kiss under the floating mistletoe, customers are awarded special gift cards, with no prize if they don’t kiss. Couples can also win random gift cards by posting photos of themselves kissing under the mistletoe with the hashtag #happyfridayholiday.
"At Fridays, we decided to put a little extra ‘happy’ into the holidays by rolling out the Mobile Mistletoe this December," said Brian Gies, chief marketing officer, TGI Fridays."We're inviting friends to get together to enjoy a more spirited holiday season inspired by a little Mobile Mistletoe mischief. If guests show a little love under the mistletoe, Fridays might just show them a little love with some nice holiday gifts."
