    Rite Aid on Thursday announced a big push behind its unique loyalty card offering wellness+ with Plenti - beginning Jan. 31, Rite Aid is offering its wellness+ with Plenti members the opportunity to earn 5,000 Plenti points when they spend up to $200 on participating products in stores or online. During Rite Aid’s “Big Point Event,” which runs through Feb. 27, customers can make multiple visits and purchases to reach the reward thresholds to earn up to 5,000 Plenti points.

    Toys "R" Us is urging shoppers to bring in their recalled and outdated baby items during its annual Great Trade-In event next month at stores nationwide.

    The event will take place at Babies "R" Us and Toys "R" Us stores Feb. 1 through Feb. 29. And, new this year, the company's Rewards"R"Us loyalty members can take advantage of early access to the in-store event beginning Jan. 29, by showing their Rewards"R"Us card during checkout.

    Belk is inviting couples engaged to be married to attend an Engagement Party during the month of February in the home department at their local store.

  • Retail marketers find less is more with coupons

    Some major retailers sharply reduced their use of printed free standing inserts (FSIs) last year but the total dollar value of FSIs still grew to a record $515 billion.

    The value of free standing insert (FSI) coupons increased 3.7% in 2015 to $515 billion, according to Kantar Media. However, the number of FSI pages distributed fell 8.1% as marketers cut back on pages that didn’t include a coupon. The number of coupons circulated increased nominally versus the prior year, and combined with higher face value led to growth in dollars circulated.

  • More email in 2016 holiday forecast

    If this past holiday season was any indication, American consumers can expect to receive even more email from retailers in the coming year as improved targeting has increased the efficacy of the marketing tactic.
