  • West Elm to launch local small business grant contest

    Brooklyn, N.Y. -- Home furnishings retailer West Elm is launching what it calls “We Love Local Small Business Grant” contest, designed to support U.S.-based artists, makers and designers as they grow and scale their businesses.

    The contest launches Aug. 12 with open online submissions, followed by in-store portfolio reviews in five stores across the country. The public will vote online for one of 20 finalists selected by West Elm, and the winner will be announced on Nov. 19.

  • Walgreens gets ready for Charity Classic golf event in November

    The Walgreens Charity Classic, presented by the Seagate Country Club, is set for Nov. 6 to 9, 2014 in Delray Beach, the Country Club announced Friday. The Charity Classic will showcase the talents of 48 former LPGA Tour stars now playing the Legends Tour, the official senior tour of the LPGA.

    The four-day event will also raise funds for three area charities: The Dan Marino Foundation, Achievement Centers for Children & Families and Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse.
     

  • Paul Mitchell rolls out charitable social media campaign

    Hair care product manufacturer Paul Mitchell has launched a new social media campaign, #GivingIsMyStyle. The new campaign also accompanies a redesigned site that will showcase the company’s products and philanthropic efforts.
     

  • Kenneth Cole launches omnichannel marketing campaign

    New York – Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. is launching an omnichannel marketing campaign to support specific charitable projects under three company pillars – Collective Health, Civil Liberties, and Artistic Activism. The advertising campaign will be supported by a national print, outdoor, digital, and social media plan.

  • Target signs legal brief backing same-sex marriage

    New York -- Target Corp. has added its name to a legal defense of gay marriage. The move comes four years after the company was criticized for supporting a strident opponent of same-sex unions.

    Target signed a court brief backing marriage equality in a pending court case and publicly declared its support of gay marriage, joining the likes of Starbucks, Apple and Intel.

  • Tiffany releases corporate responsibility report

    New York - Tiffany & Co. has set a goal to reduce global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 15% from 2013 to 2020, according to its annual corporate responsibility report. The report details that the retailer had installed energy efficient LED lighting in retail displays at more than 39 U.S. retail locations by the end of 2013. An additional 16 North American locations are planned for 2014.

  • Overstock to introduce clothes donation program

    Online retailer Overstock.com is launching a partnership with nonprofit Give Back Box to make donating used clothes easier for its customers.
     
    Soon, customers who order products from Overstock.com will be able to use an enclosed Give Back Box shipping label to send their used clothes to nonprofits nationwide.
     

  • Overstock.com offers free shipment of used goods to charity

    Salt Lake City - Overstock.com Inc. is launching a partnership with Give Back Box, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitate charitable donations. Through the partnership, Overstock.com gives customers the ability to re-use the box in which their order arrived, along with Give Back Box's free shipping label, to ship used household items directly to non-profit organizations across the U.S.
