  • How the Amazon Grinch Stole Retailers’ Christmas

    In its annual survey of holiday spending trends, Deloitte reports that 46% of consumers plan to do their holiday shopping online. That puts online shopping in the number-one position for the first time in the survey’s history. Deloitte also found that nearly six out of 10 shoppers plan to use self-help technologies in-store when holiday shopping.

  • ECRM: Retail circular advertising trends, November 2013

    ECRM compared retail circular advertising in Nov. 2012 versus Nov. 2013 and noted trends occurring across top retail chains. Last month, Toys “R” Us experienced a decrease of more than 65% on the page count and ads per circular metrics. For the month of Nov., however, the toy retailer completely reversed course with year-over-year increases in page count and ads per circular accompanied by a very minor decrease in ads per page.

  • Study: Millennial, Boomer shoppers have similarities

    New York -- There are significant similarities between Millennial and Boomer shoppers. A study of Millennial and Boomer purchasing trends conducted by Radius Global Market Research shows that while there are certainly differences, there are also significant similarities between the groups.

  • Retail Live! acquires Retailer One on One

    Austin, Texas — A national networking company that brings retailers together at events with industry leading landlords, brokers and developers, Retail Live! recently acquired Orlando, Fla.-based Retailer One on One, expanding the company’s market presence in the Southeast.

    Founded in 2011, Retail Live! has programs in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and now Orlando.

  • Domino’s offers Facebook promotion

    Ann Arbor, Mich. – Domino’s is running a special global Facebook promotion giving customers in 42 countries a 50% discount on menu-priced pizza ordered online. Through Dec. 8, customers can visit their country’s Domino’s Facebook page to see if they can redeem the offer.

  • Adobe reports record Cyber Monday sales

    Online sales on Cyber Monday increased by 16% to $2.29 billion compared to last year, according to Adobe’s Digital Index 2013, and a record 18.3% of those sales came from mobile devices — a surge of 80% compared to last year.

    Consumer shopping preferences continued to shift online with Cyber Monday being the fifth day in a row of record-breaking online sales. While “brick and click” retailers dominated Thanksgiving weekend sales, Internet retailers generated the most sales on Cyber Monday with a 42% share.

  • Visa’s Black Friday weekend online sales up 30%

    New York -- Visa reported that Black Friday weekend e-commerce sales across smart phones, tablets and PCs conducted by U.S. Visa accountholders increased 30% to $7.8 billion.

    The company also noted that Cyber Monday ruled the five-day period with spending on Visa cards up 28% to $2.6 billion while Thanksgiving Day saw a 30% jump to nearly $1 billion.

     

     

  • NYC prepares to get Wired

    Wired, a Conde Nast brand, is getting ready to open a popup store for the ninth consecutive year in New York City, featuring electronics, rare objects d' art, apparel and accessories, musical instruments, kitchen gadgets and adventure gear.

    Located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, at 353 West 14th St., the store will be open from noon-8 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays, from Dec. 4 through Dec. 22. This year’s popup store is sponsored by Citi, the 2014 Corvette Stingray and Delta Air Lines.
