  • Belk to make Juban Crossing debut this summer

    Denham Springs, La. — Belk will open a 75,000-sq.-ft. store in Denham Springs, Louisiana, near Baton Rouge, that will become the first department store anchor at the regional lifestyle center at Juban Crossing. The grand opening is slated for October 15.

    The new, $7-million store will feature the latest retail design and décor for the Charlotte, North Carolina chain.

  • Retail veteran joins Park City Group business development team

    Salt Lake City - Frederic Van Roie has joined the business development team of Big Data management software provider Park City Group.

    Van Roie is a 25-year veteran of the retail, CPG and foodservice industries with expertise in marketing and merchandising strategies at several premier retailers, including Costco, BJ’s, Home Depot, Whole Foods, D’Agostino’s, Walmart and Safeway.

     

  • Scholastic plans new multi-platform series TombQuest

    Scholastic is unveiling a new multi-platform series, TombQuest, which includes five books by Michael Northrop and an online game.

    TombQuest is aimed at eight- to 12-year-olds and is an addition to Scholastic’s three previous multi-platform series, which have published some 22 million copies since the first launched in 2008, and the accompanying websites have 3 million registered users.

  • Staples entices back-to-school shoppers with three ways to save

    Staples has officially launched the 2014 back-to-school season with its Make More Happen for Less promotion, which offers customers three ways to save on products.

  • J.C. Penney showcases unique mannequins in New York City store windows

    New York -- J.C. Penney has teamed up with NBC’s “Today Show” to display five mannequins created in the image of real Americans in the windows of its store in Manhattan. The mannequins, which include a model of woman in a wheelchair and a male double-leg amputee, were made by Fusion Specialties, Broomfield, Colorado.

    San Francisco -- Visa is launching a new service, Visa Checkout that enables consumers throughout the United States, Canada and Australia to pay for goods online, on any device, with just a few clicks.

  • Report: Search ad spend up 25% year-over-year

    San Francisco -- Search ad spend increased 25% year-over-year and 2% quarter-over-quarter, according to Kenshoo, a leader in predictive media optimization technology.

    Among the key findings in the research:

    • Search click-through rate increased 26%, driving a 15% increase in clicks year-over-year;

    • Social ad spend increased 51% year-over-year and 21% quarter-over-quarter; and

    • Social impressions increased 13% year-over-year.
