  • HSN hopes 'Snow White' partnership is fairest of them all

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Take a universal story, aim it toward a teen audience and have Kristen Stewart (of "Twilight" fame) as the star, and you have a recipe for a potential blockbuster. That is exactly what it is happening with "Snow White and the Huntsman," which also stars Oscar winner Charlize Theron, and HSN is getting in on the action by partnering with Universal Pictures to offer exclusive collections inspired by the film.

  • Macy's adds new chef to culinary council

    NEW YORK — Macy’s announced that it has named Johnny Iuzzini to its culinary council. One of the nation's most celebrated and innovative pastry chefs, Iuzzini will join notable talents including Emeril Lagasse, Cat Cora, Wolfgang Puck and Marcus Samuelsson on this distinguished team. 

  • Disney celebrates 25 years

    PASADENA, Calif. — On March 28, Disney Store will celebrate its 25th anniversary by giving the first 250 guests at each location silver commemorative Mickey Mouse ears. In addition, Disney Store will host a variety of family fun activities throughout the day, including Disney trivia, games, a dance party and more. As an added bonus, guests will receive 25% off purchases made in store and online at DisneyStore.com for the entire day.

  • Retail Roadshow in Boston on Thursday; register now

    New York -- Retail executives are invited to attend the Microsoft Retail Roadshow, which will be held in Cambridge, Mass., on Thursday, March 29. The half-day event, which kicks off with breakfast at 8 a.m. and includes lunch, will explore ways that retailers can increase operational efficiency, lower costs and innovate to drive customer engagement.

    The Retail Roadshow will be held at Microsoft Research New England, R&D Center, One Memorial Drive, First Floor, Cambridge, Mass.

  • Saks reopens Off 5th store in Nashville

    NEW YORK — Closed by floods in May 2010, the Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th at Opry Mills in Nashville, Tenn., will reopen on March 29.

    Located next to the Grand Ole Opry House, the approximate 27,500-sq.-ft. store will be located in the Opry Mills Shopping Center. Operated by Simon Malls, upon completion, the center will be the largest shopping outlet in Tennessee, with over 200 stores, multiple restaurants and an in-house movie theater.

  • NRF names VP communications

    WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation has appointed a new VP communications.

    Effective Apr. 9, Katie Wilson will be responsible for overseeing NRF’s industry efforts, a multitude of communication vehicles and advancing NRF advocacy priorities on issues important to the retail community, NRF said. She will assume many of the responsibilities of Ellen Davis, who was recently named NRF SVP and executive director of the NRF Foundation.

  • Saks’ Off 5th reopening in new center

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th announced that it plans to reopen its Nashville, Tenn., store on March 29.

    Located next to the Grand Ole Opry House, the approximate 27,500-sq.-ft. store will be located in the Opry Mills Shopping Center. Operated by Simon Malls, upon completion, the center will be the largest shopping outlet in Tennessee, with over 200 stores, multiple restaurants and an in-house movie theater.

    The reopening marks Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th’s return to Opry Mills after it was closed by floods in May 2010.

  • First enclosed mall to open in six years officially debuts in Utah

    Bloomfield Hills, Mich. -- Taubman Centers on Thursday announced the opening of City Creek Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thousands of visitors attended the grand opening of the only regional shopping center to open in the United States this year. 

    According to the International Council of Shopping Centers, City Creek Center is the first enclosed regional shopping center to open in the United States in six years.
