  • Lowe's announces promotion in legal department

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe’s has announced the promotion of M. Lee Reeves to SVP, deputy general counsel and assistant secretary. Reeves will continue to report to Gaither Keener, EVP, general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer.

    In his new role, Reeves’ responsibilities include leading the corporate transactions, intellectual property and information technology legal teams.

    Reeves joined Lowe’s in 2004 as senior counsel, after serving as a member of a private law firm.

  • OfficeMax appoints HR chief

    Naperville Ill. -- OfficeMax announced Thursday that Steve Parsons has been named executive VP and chief human resources officer for the office supply chain, effective July 25.

    Parsons will report to Ravi Saligram, president and CEO, and will be responsible for all aspects of global human resources for the company, including talent management, compensation and benefits, training, leadership development, recruitment, diversity, and internal and corporate communications.

    Most recently, Parsons was senior VP human resources at Rite Aid Corp.

  • OfficeMax names head of human resources

    NAPERVILLE, Ill. — OfficeMax announced that Steve Parsons has been appointed EVP and chief human resources officer, effective July 25.  In this position, Parsons will report to Ravi Saligram, president and CEO of OfficeMax, and will be responsible for all aspects of global human resources for the company, including talent management, compensation and benefits, training, leadership development, recruitment, diversity, and internal and corporate communications.

  • Neiman Marcus hires new HR chief

    Dallas -- A Wednesday report in the Dallas Business Journal said that Neiman Marcus has hired a new chief human resources officer.

    Sandra Brooslin-Viviano joined the company on July 18 as senior VP human resources, succeeding the newly retired Maritea O’Dea.

    Brooslin-Viviano, 55, was previously executive VP human resources for New York and Co.

  • CVS settles Rhode Island discrimination claim

    Providence, R.I. -- An Associated Press report on Tuesday said that CVS Caremark Corp. has resolved a complaint over a pre-hiring questionnaire that could discriminate against those with certain mental conditions.

    According to the Rhode Island chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, the complaint was settled voluntarily.

  • Licensing association names new board members

    NEW YORK  — The International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) has announced the addition of six new members to the board of directors. The new directors were elected by a vote of the LIMA membership and their terms will run from July 1 through June 30, 2014.

  • Walmart names new real estate executive

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Karen Roberts was named executive VP and president of Walmart Realty on Friday, filling a position vacated by the company’s long time real estate executive Eric Zorn who retired after a 20-year career.

    Roberts most recently served as senior VP and chief compliance officer. She will report to Tom Mars,  executive VP and chief administrative officer, whose responsibilities were expanded to include oversight of real estate in the wake of Zorn’s retirement.
