Not all times of day are created equal when it comes to effective social media promotions.
According to new analysis of 34,000 customers on its platform from social media management tool provider Sprout Social, the overall best times to post marketing content on social media are:
Monday 10 a.m. to noon.
Tuesday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m.
Friday 9 to 11 a.m.
Weekends are generally not good times for social media marketing posts. Sprout Social analysis indicates that the best overall days to post on social media areTuesdays and Wednesdays, with Sunday being the single worst day of the week.

Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The worst day to post on Facebook is Sunday. According to Sprout Social, Facebook is the most used (90%) platform by marketers worldwide.

Sunday is the worst day for marketing content on Instagram, which is the second-most used platform by marketers worldwide (79%). Sprout Social advises that the Instagram algorithm is unpredictable.

The best days/times to post are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
Saturdays and Sundays are the worst days for marketing posts on LinkedIn company pages. LinkedIn engagement times are consistent with general business hours, Sprout Social data indicates. High engagement hours are more concentrated midday and don’t extend too far out past workday hours.

Interestingly, the worst days to post marketing content on Pinterestare Sundays and Mondays. Sprout Social says maintaining an active presence on Pinterest helps ensure that a brand is on the forefront of upcoming trends.

Tuesdays from 2 to 6 p.m.
Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m.
The worst days to post on TikTok are Sundays.

The worst days to post on Twitter areSundays. Sprout Social analysis reveals that Twitter peak times for engagement grew significantly compared to 2022, possibly reflecting an interest in developing news and updates as the day unfolds, as well as a desire for entertainment.
Social shopping proves popular
An overwhelming 98% of surveyed consumers planned to make at least one purchase through social shopping or influencer commerce in 2022, according to other recent data from Sprout Social.
In addition, 47% of respondents said they plan to use shopping features within a platform, such as Instagram Shops, Facebook Shops, or TikTok Shopping. And 77% are more likely to increase their spending with brands they feel connected to.
