Bass Pro Shops plots expansion in Texas
Bass Pro Shops continues to expand its footprint.
The outdoor retailer, known for its immersive retail destinations, plans to open a 100,000-sq.-ft. store in College Station, Texas, adjacent to the future South College Station baseball and softball complex. Subject to all necessary approvals, the store is expected to open in 2028.
The news follows Bass Pro’s recent growth in the Lone Star State, including newly opened locations in Odessa, Tyler, Spring and Grand Prairie, along with a planned location expected to open in early 2027 in Abilene. With the addition of the College Station and Abilene locations, Bass Pro will have 20 locations across Texas. Earlier this year, the company announced plans for its single largest single-level location to date, a 200,00-sq.-ft. location at Riverton in Sayreville, N.J.
Similar to all Bass Pro Shops locations, the College Station store will feature a completely unique custom design. Envisioned as a tribute to the great sporting heritage of the region and a celebration of Texas’ rich outdoor traditions, it will feature the company's signature shopping experience, combining retail with entertainment, outdoor education and conservation. Artists and craftsmen will design the store’s localized imagery to emphasize its immersive outdoor theme.
Conservation is fundamental to Bass Pro Shops and is an ethic that dates to its earliest days. The company over the past decade has proudly donated more than 10% of earnings to support conservation efforts in local communities and across North America.

At each of the company’s 183 locations throughout North America, customers are invited to “round up” at the register and online through the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund to join the cause and advance programs aimed at conserving habitat and wildlife, advocating for sportsmen’s rights and connecting new audiences to the outdoors. (Bass Pro Shops acquired Cabela’s in 2017.)
