Amazon kicking off holidays with October Prime sales event
For the fourth consecutive year, Amazon is hosting a fall version of its Prime Day sales extravaganza.
Once again, Amazon is officially kicking off its holiday promotional season with a sales event called Prime Big Deal Days. Amazon debuted its fall version of the annual Prime Day 48-hour sales extravaganza in October 2022.
The 2025 edition begins at 12:01 a.m. PDT on Monday, Oct. 7 and runs through Tuesday, Oct. 8. The event will only be open to members of the paid Amazon Prime membership program and features exclusive deals across the online giant’s product assortment. Customers who are not Prime members can participate via free 30-day trial membership.
"Prime Big Deal Days kicks off the holiday shopping season with exclusive deals for Prime members on must-have items and popular gifts," said Carmen Nestares, VP of North America marketing and Prime tech. "We're excited to help Prime members save money this year with some of Amazon's best deals of the season so far, including amazing deals on an expanded selection of Holiday Amazon Exclusive items. With Prime Big Deal Days, members can check off their holiday lists early and make the most of their holiday budget."
Amazon is launching early Prime Big Deal Days offers for Prime members as of Tuesday, Sept. 16. Featured items include products from a curated holiday gift list, as well as Amazon private brands and devices. See a partial list of early deals here.
Prime Big Deal Days has become a major part of Amazon’s increasingly crowded seasonal promotional calendar. In October 2024, the two-day event was its biggest October shopping event ever, with more Prime members shopping compared to the 2023 edition with higher sales and more items sold than any previous October shopping event.

In an October 2024 email to Chain Store Age, an Amazon representative said independent sellers on its platform, most of which are small-to-medium-sized businesses, saw record sales compared to the 2023 event. Amazon did not release specific sales figures.
Only 24% of 2024 Prime Big Deal Days shoppers surveyed by Numerator reported purchasing gifts for the holidays. However, the promotion still proved to be a predictor of a healthy holiday season for Amazon, with the company setting a new sales record during its 12-day holiday promotional event from Thursday, Nov. 21 – Monday, Dec. 2.
Prime Big Deal Days will begin on Monday, Oct. 7 in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the U.S., and U.K., and for the first time, Colombia, Ireland and Mexico.
