Wayfair is updating its customer app with artificial intelligence capabilities.

Following is a brief overview of each new feature:
Discover
The discover feature of the Wayfair app offers curated, shoppable recommendations tailored to the individual user’s style preferences. The tab opens to a personalized, infinite scroll of AI-generated imagery across product categories.
Each image acts as a launchpad for deeper engagement through a “shop the image” option that allows app users to tap into any image and land on a detail page where they can browse product carousels with visually similar items. Recommendations are provided via proprietary AI-based visual search technology.
Beneath the shoppable carousels, customers can view an expanding gallery of similar AI-generated scenes.
Image search
With Wayfair’s new mobile image search feature, customers can now use the search bar to take a picture or upload one from the camera roll. AI technology will instantly return up to 30 of the most visually similar items available on Wayfair.
In addition, on selected product detail pages, a new 'find similar looks” option will appear within the product listing image card, enabling customers to perform an image-based search for visually similar items from the Wayfair catalog.
Other AI-based tools Wayfair has rolled out to shoppers in 2025 include a new shopping inspiration agent called 'Muse.' Customers can see a room style and generative AI-created imagery for their room with a visual browsing experience designed to let users quickly navigate through rich imagery, search for any style, and explore or apply those styles to build personalized collections. The solution links customer searches to Wayfair's catalog, offering shoppable suggestions and complementary items.
"At Wayfair, we’re always looking for ways to remove friction and bring more joy to the shopping journey," said Aanan Contractor, VP of customer technology, Wayfair. "Whether you're snapping a photo to find a product or browsing curated imagery in Discover to find inspiration, these innovations are designed to simplify the journey and bring your home vision to life—seamlessly and intuitively."
