Walmart reveals Hollywood star as The Grinch; previews Cyber Monday
A star of the HBO hit series "White Lotus" is playing the Grinch in Walmart’s seasonal holiday campaign and shoppers are getting a sneak peek at its Cyber Monday deals.
The discount giant, which hosted its third annual "Walmart Deals" holiday kickoff sale earlier in October and just concluded its first Black Friday Deals event of the 2025 season, has announced that film and TV star Walton Goggins is playing the legendary Dr. Seuss holiday villain-turned-hero The Grinch in its "WhoKnewVille” promotional effort.
Developed in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the "Grinch Who Stole Christmas"-themed campaign presents residents of "WhoKnewVille" struggling to find the perfect holiday gift as familiar characters from the book — Mindy Lou Who, The Grinch and all the Whos — discover what Walmart can do.
"WhoKnewVille," a Dr. Seuss-inspired world Walmart will feature in ads, social media feeds and virtual worlds, is an expansion of its existing “Who Knew?” promotional campaign, which also prominently featured Goggins during the fall.

"When I got the invitation to go on this journey with Walmart, to step into the green, furry shoes of this iconic literary figure, it was a bit overwhelming," said Walton Goggins. "I’m excited to bring together Walmart's Black Friday Deals and Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch for the holidays. Is there a better combination? I don't think so."
Black Friday and Cyber Monday feature discounts
Walmart’s second Black Friday promotion runs from Nov. 25 to Nov. 30 (including Thanksgiving Day Nov. 27 and Black Friday Nov. 28). The event will be available online only from Nov. 25 to Nov. 27, and then online and in stores from Nov. 28 to Nov. 30. Walmart+ members will get early access, beginning Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. ET
In addition, Walmart’s Cyber Monday sale will run online only on Monday, Dec. 1, with Walmart+ members getting early access on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ET. For the first time, Walmart is revealing select deals it will offer online during its Cyber Monday promotion:

- Donner Kids Electric Drums – Was $59.99; event price $36.99.
