Walmart is expanding the drone delivery service it operates with technology from Wing westward.

The discount giant will offer 30-minute drone delivery service in the Seattle and Denver metro areas via a partnership it initially launched with Wing, an on-demand drone delivery provider powered by Google parent company Alphabet, for drone delivery in the Dallas-Fort Worth market in 2023.

Launching drone delivery in the Seattle and Denver metros will bring drone delivery to more than 40 million customers across some of the largest metros in the nation, including Puget Sound. The program will also continue Walmart’s progress toward its goal of reaching more than 270 total stores with drone delivery.

To date, Walmart is the first retailer to scale drone delivery across five states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas. So far in 2026, Walmart has also said it will expand “ultra-fast” service via drones from Wing to an additional 150 stores over the next year and has launched Wing drone delivery in Orlando, Greater Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area and Salt Lake City.

“Expanding drone delivery to Seattle and Denver is about giving more customers a practical option when they need something quickly,” said Greg Cathey, senior VP, e-commerce transformation, Walmart, said in a Wing corporate blog poat. “Walmart’s stores put everyday items close to the communities we serve, and Wing helps bring those items to customers’ homes in minutes.”

Wing’s drones fly at speeds up to 60 mph and use a tether to lower packages directly to a customer’s yard or driveway in as fast as 30 minutes. Once drone delivery is available, customers within delivery range will see the option on the Walmart app or website based on the address associated with their account. Customers can also place a delivery directly through the Wing app.

“Adding new metros to our expansion speaks to how quickly people across the country are adopting drone delivery," said Heather Rivera, chief business officer at Wing, in the blog post. "We're excited to serve the needs of busy families in nearly 20 major markets spanning diverse communities and climates by delivering the everyday items these families need fast.”

Walmart also offers drone-based food delivery via Zipline drones in Rowlett, Texas.

Based in Bentonville, Ark., Walmart Inc. runs 10,900 stores and numerous e-commerce websites in 19 countries.
