Urban Outfitters is launching a nationwide campaign focused on college football gameday culture and the start of the new academic year.

The specialty retailer is kicking off its "Good Game" back-to-college promotion on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, in Tucson, Ariz., with a performance by rapper Yung Gravy. The three-day event will focus on style, school pride and community-driven events, with Urban Outfitters rolling out additional dates and locations nationwide during the fall.

Central to Good Game are UO College Shops, located in 23 campus-adjacent stores nationwide. Each pop-up shop is curated around the local college and features sport-related essentials and popular youth brands such as Nike.

No two College Shops are the same, offering pieces in school-specific colors and exclusive products. The full assortment is also available online.

"Good Game is all about celebrating the return to campus and one of college's most spirited occasions," said Marybeth Cahill, chief merchandising officer, Urban Outfitters. "We're excited to show up for students in ways that bring gameday to life, through curated styles, campus activations, and the brands they love most."

Beyond product, College Shops will offer surprise giveaways, "UO Legends" mascot appearances, on-field moments and music performances. Nike is the key partner for the events, providing exclusive products and activations. Urban Outfitters will announce additional Game Day activations this fall, including a performance by singer-songwriter Rebecca Black.

Urban Outfitters aims at back-to-college market

Urban Outfitters has been heavily targeting collegiate consumers since the end of the 2024-25 academic year. In May, the retailer rolled out “UO Haul," a marketing effort including products, pop-ups, strategic brand partnerships, and surprise giveaways aimed at college students.

At the time, Urban Outfitters said its immersive "UO Haul" experiences are part of a broader strategy to reimagine back-to-campus shopping by blending function, style, and discovery in a way customers won't find anywhere else.

Urban Outfitters also recently partnered with HGTV to host the Dream Dorm Makeover Contest. Students were invited to curate a Pinterest board that captured their vision for a dream dorm.

And earlier this month, Urban Outfitters teamed up with Chipotle to design a limited-edition 'A Little Extra' Dorm Collection inspired by the fast-casual chain’s menu, offered at select Urban Outfitters stores and online.

Highlights include bean bag chairs inspired by black and pinto beans, a cozy throw blanket designed to look like a foil-wrapped tortilla and a desk light shaped like Chipotle's iconic chip bag. Other items in the capsule include a water tumbler, catch-all, doormat, and embroidered pillow.

Founded in 1970 in a space across from the University of Pennsylvania, Urban Outfitters now operates more than 200 stores across the U.S. States, Canada, and Europe, as well as a digital presence.
