T&T plans largest California store yet at NewPark Mall
T&T Supermarket is continuing to add to its growing footprint in the Golden State – with plans to soon go bigger than ever.
Canada’s largest Asian grocer will open its fourth Bay Area location and first East Bay store at the super-regional NewPark Mall in Newark, Calif., in winter 2027. The 72,600-sq-ft. store will occupy the former Macy's anchor space, which has been vacant since March 2025, making it T&T's largest California location to date.
T&T currently operates stores in Bellevue and Lynnwood, Wash., and recently opened its first California location in San Jose. Additional Bay Area locations have been announced for San Francisco and Millbrae, along with locations in Southern California (Chino Hills and Irvine), as the retailer continues to expand its U.S. footprint.
The Newark location will bring T&T’s “signature shop-and-dine experience” to the East Bay, combining a full-service Asian grocery store with prepared foods, bakery offerings, hundreds of private label products, and specialty products from across Asia. The store will serve customers throughout Newark, Fremont, Union City, Hayward and surrounding East Bay communities.
“East Bay really needs at T&T,” said CEO Tina Lee in an Instagram video detailing the opening. “I think it is going to trade all the way up from Berkeley, down to Milpitas, east to Pleasanton… that’s why we picked a super big store. It’s going to be a mega T&T.”
At NewPark Mall, T&T will join tenants including Costco, AMC, 24 Hour Fitness and several soft goods retailers and eateries. The store is expected to create approximately 400 local jobs across store operations, culinary and management positions.
