  • Rubio’s Restaurant to roll out new store design to 60 West Coast locations

    San Diego -- Rubio’s Restaurants will redesign 60 of its restaurants in Southern California, with completion expected by the end of 2015. With more updates scheduled for 2016, the new and improved locations are slated to be a visual reflection of the fast-casual brand’s evolution and culinary progression.

  • Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, Mount Prospect, Ill.

    There’s a new, farmers market-styled specialty grocer taking root in the Midwest: Fresh Thyme Farmers Market. With former Sunflower Farmers Market CEO Chris Sherrell at the helm, Fresh Thyme emphasizes organic foods and produce at value prices in a convenient neighborhood-store format. The company made its debut in April, in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, and went on to open six additional locations. A total of 60 stores are planned throughout the Midwest by 2019.

    Casual apparel brand U.S. Polo Assn. has opened its first location in Brooklyn, in the vicinity of the Barclays Arena.

    Designed by Montroy Andersen DeMarco (MADGI), New York, the 2,800-sq.-ft. space has a clean, modern feel and includes  the brand’s signature ‘flag wall’ fashioned out of folded T-shirts,  a jeans island and a T-shirt island, and a 12-ft.-long cash wrap counter

  • CSA First Look: J.C. Penney's Brooklyn Debut

    J.C. Penney Co. is testing new design treatments, merchandise presentations and service options at its new — and first ever — location in Brooklyn, New York. Located at Gateway Center, the 124,000-sq.-ft., single-level store boasts a contemporary exterior that incorporates clean lines, large glass panels, red accents and the unmistakable Penney logo.

    The interior is bright and modern, with large murals of local landmarks. A variety of flooring surfaces, including polished concrete, wood laminates and grey ceramic tile, complement the streamlined design.
