  • RPAI adds retailers to Gateway Plaza

    Oak Brook. Ill. - Retail Properties of America Inc. has signed two new leases at its Gateway Plaza shopping center located in Southlake, Texas. Buybuy Baby and Cost Plus World Market, at Gateway Plaza located in Southlake, Texas. Buybuy Baby and Cost Plus World Market are both expected to open in fourth quarter 2015.

    The 365,200-sq.-ft. power center is anchored by Kohl's, T.J. Maxx, Old Navy, Ulta Beauty and Bed Bath & Beyond, as well as many other prominent national retailers and restaurants.
     

  • Bealls targets younger, active crowd with new store concept

    New York — Bealls Inc. has taken the wraps off its new store banner targeted at millennials.

    The department store retailer debuted Bunulu at Coconut Point Mall in Estero, Fla. Two additional locations at the St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville, Fla. and The Garden Mall in Palm Beach, Fla. are due to open by the end of this year.

    Detroit —  Work wear brand Carhartt on Thursday opened a flagship in Detroit, the city where it was founded in 1889.  
  • J.C. Penney is in the green

    Plano, Texas – The J.C. Penney Co. Inc. is in the green – green energy savings, that is.

    The retailer on Wednesday announced the long-term results of various company initiatives that incorporate sustainability practices in its day-to-day business operations. It also said it would unveil a new energy initiative later this year.

  • Chain looks to tap into pet supplies, services, market

    Livonia, Mich. -- Pet Supplies Plus is looking to capitalize on the $58 billion pet industry.

    The company, the nation’s largest pet retail franchise, announced that, so far this year, it has 19 new locations in the pipeline. Newly signed agreements will bring the neighborhood pet stores to new and underserved markets including Nashville, Atlanta, Houston, Jacksonville and Denver.
     

  • Bauer Hockey puts its puck in the retail rink

    Burlington, Mass. -- Another iconic brand has opened its own freestanding store.

    Ice hockey equipment giant Bauer Hockey, founded in 1927, has opened its first-ever physical store, in the Boston suburb of Burlington, Massachusetts. The 20,000-sq.-ft. store, called “Own the Moment Hockey Experience,” is the first of 10 locations the company plans to open in the United States and Canada. A second is set to open this fall, in Bloomington, Minnesota.

  • The Green Bay Packers unveil master plan for mixed-use project

    Green Bay, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers announced details for the master plan of the Titletown District, a destination area to be created immediately west of Lambeau Field Stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers will invest approximately $65 million in Titletown, with a cumulative initial investment by all parties to be between $120 million-130 million.
