Target offering low prices on school supply deals; holding in-store events
Target Corp.’s back-to-school plans include an emphasis on affordability and an expanded lineup of locations holding in-store events.
The retailer said it is offering reduced prices on thousands of items — including 95% of school supply deals priced at or below last year's retail prices. School supplies start at $0.25 and apparel at $5. Prices of form room storage, decor and bathroom essentials start at $5. Target will also hold a weeklong back-to-school savings event from July 26 through Aug. 1.
In-Store Events
On Aug. 8, Target will host back-to-school events in 2,000 stores (up from 400 locations last year). The events are designed to create a more engaging shopping experience for students and families, according to the company. Shoppers can can explore new arrivals from Cat & Jack and receive take-home personalization kits with custom bag tags and puffy stickers. Nearly 800 stores will feature new Heyday headphone colorways with sticker sheets and rhinestone decals to customize tech accessories.
On Aug. 16, Target is also expanding its back-to-college move-in events this year, with nearly 150 stores participating. Twenty flagship locations will feature elevated front-of-store experiences with DJs, mascots, product sampling and giveaway bags, while 120 additional stores will host welcome events with giveaway bags and samples timed to local campus move-in dates.
College students and teachers who are members of the free Target Circle loyalty program can save a extra 20% off one storewide purchase from July 5 through Sept. 12, and more than 50% off an annual Target Circle 360 paid membership.
Target has also launched exclusive limited-time partnerships with several brands for the back-to-school season, including a big one with LoveShack Fancy, best known for its feminine stylings, whimsical prints and devoted following. Targeted at tweens and teens, the LoveShackFancy x Target limited-time collection features more than 200 items across apparel, accessories, beauty, school supplies. Most items are priced under $25.
Target is also collaborating with Abercrombie & Fitch's Hollister division on a multi-season collection that includes bedding, fleece tops and other items aimed at college students.
