Target is looking to accelerate its online growth through a partnership that will bring new brands to its third-party online marketplace, Target Plus.

The discount giant has entered into a partnership with global commerce platform Shopify to offer a curated selection of popular Shopify sellers and their products on Target Plus.   In addition, Target will be the first mass retailer to work with Shopify to bring select merchants' products into its physical stores in the months to come. The two companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal.

The Target Plus expanded array specifically includes products such as running shoes, outdoor décor and patio accessories, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) learning toys, musical instruments, and baseball gear. Brands that will be featured in its new Shopify partnership include True Classic and Caden Lane.

"Target Plus invites consumers to explore a curated collection of products from vendors we trust, so they can shop our assortment with confidence," said Cara Sylvester, executive VP and chief guest experience officer, Target. "Our partnership with Shopify extends the breadth of thoughtfully designed and affordable items available to discover and enjoy as part of Target's distinctive mix of brands shoppers love."
