Stop & Shop cutting prices at all Mass. stores

Stop & Shop cuts Mass. prices
Stop & Shop is saving Massachusetts customers money.

Stop & Shop is geographically expanding its effort to lower prices and fees.

The Ahold Delhaize USA banner that is one of the largest grocery chains on the East Coast is rolling out lower prices at every one of its 88 stores across Eastern Massachusetts beginning Friday, Aug. 22, 2025. The rollout is expected to be completed by the end of August, and shoppers will see lower everyday prices on thousands of items spanning nearly every department, including both national brands and Stop & Shop’s private label products.

When this effort is complete, Stop & Shop will have implemented lower everyday prices across all of its 116 store locations in Massachusetts. The initiative is part of a broader, multi-year transformation strategy Stop & Shop announced in May 2024 that includes lower prices, store remodels and driving a better in-store experience.

The Massachusetts price-cutting initiative also follows a similar effort to reduce the cost of items at all stores in bordering Rhode Island which took place in October 2024.

“Massachusetts is our home, and bringing meaningful savings to millions of customers right in our backyard is an important milestone in our broader strategy,” said Roger Wheeler, president of Stop & Shop. “We know that value matters now more than ever, and this price investment - which is the largest one we’ve executed to date - is just one example of the work we’re focused on to deliver a great experience for our customers in terms of value, high-quality products, and service in our stores.”

Additional ways to save at Stop & Shop include a deal lock program that provides savings on hundreds of items for weeks at a time, as well as meal deals that consist of a protein on sale with several complementary items for free to complete a meal for a family of four.

Since 2024, Stop & Shop has been implementing changes designed to deliver an improved shopping experience including the removal of paper bag fees for customers in Massachusetts (except for where locally mandated), and new, lower prices on key bakery items like muffins and sheet cakes.

Stop & Shop has also installed in-store kiosks, called Savings Stations, across Massachusetts. At the kiosks, customers can scan their rewards loyalty card or enter their phone number to instantly activate all digital coupons associated with their account. The kiosks also automatically activate customers’ personal offers, which are targeted deals just for them based on items they buy most.

In addition, the grocer has also continued its remodeling strategy at local Massachusetts stores over the last year.
