Stop & Shop is implementing coupon kiosks in its stores.

A regional northeast grocery retailer is ensuring that customers can have access to digital coupons and offers, even if they lack a device or Internet access.

Stop & Shop, a subsidiary of Ahold Delhaize USA, will implement an in-store kiosk called Savings Station across all of its more than 350 stores, starting in about half of its locations during the holiday season.

Initially piloted in late 2023, the Savings Station kiosks allow customers to activate all weekly circular digital coupons and personalized offers with no smartphone, internet access, or computer required.

The retailer says this new in-store feature is designed to ensure that all customers, especially those who might not be tech-savvy or who do not have access to a smartphone, have the same access to savings via its digital offers.

To use a Savings Station kiosk, shoppers can scan their Stop & Shop Go Rewards loyalty card or enter their phone number to load their digital coupons and activate personal offers based on their shopping history. A QR code is also available for touchless mobile scanning.

Customers will receive a printout of the digital coupons loaded to their loyalty card for reference while shopping the aisles, and savings will be automatically applied at checkout when shoppers scan their card or enter their phone number.

"This rollout marks another change we’re making to remove friction and improve the shopping experience for our customers," said Roger Wheeler, president of Stop & Shop. "We heard from customers who felt they were missing out on valuable digital coupon savings, and the Savings Station is our response to that feedback. It ensures that our customers can easily access all of our great deals, especially during the holiday season when savings are top of mind."

In addition to enabling customers to automatically load Stop & Shop weekly and personalized deals, the Savings Station will feature additional content for customers like recipe information and fun print-out activities for keeping kids entertained while shopping.

The rollout will continue following the holidays and all Stop & Shop stores are expected to have the Savings Station implemented by the end of January 2025.

Stop & Shop operates more than 350 stores across its five-state footprint of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. Ahold Delhaize USA, a division of Zaandam, Netherlands-based Ahold Delhaize, operates more than 2,000 stores across 23 states under the Food Lion, Giant Food, The Giant Co., Hannaford and Stop & Shop banners.
