Staples, Office Depot run back-to-school promotions
Two leading office supply retailers aren’t waiting till the end of the summer to target back-to-school shoppers and teachers with discounts and special offers.
Staples and Office Depot are both conducting campaigns focused on the back-to-school markets, including teachers as well as students and their families. Following are brief overviews of each retailer’s seasonal sales program:

Staples
In an email to Chain Store Age, Staples said it is offering prices on back-to-school items including crayons and notebooks as low as 25 cents, online and in-store, through Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025. The retailer is also offering deals on select laptops during the same period.
In addition, verified teachers can take advantage of a one-time 20% discount on select back-to-school purchases through Saturday, Sep. 13, 2025. This offer is valid in stores now, with online redemption coming soon.
Teachers can also get one free personalized first day of school sign, available in-store only, with same-day pickup for orders placed by noon. And from Sunday, July 20 through Saturday, Aug. 16, customers can pick up a new free item each week in stores and online with any purchase, while supplies last.
Shoppers can check back each week at Staples.com or in the Staples app to learn more about each offer. The first offer features free Astrobright colored paper.
Office Depot/OfficeMax
Office Depot and sister brand OfficeMax (both are banners of The ODP Corp.) is running a promotion called “Back-to-School Showtime” through July and August. The sale features hundreds of best-selling back-to-school products for less than three dollars, with prices starting as low as 25 cents.

The promotion also features 15% in bonus rewards on qualifying in-store purchases for members of the Office Depot/OfficeMax rewards program during state tax-free holiday events, as well as 30% off any customer’s purchase of $150 or more on qualifying print services throughout July.
In addition, Office Depot and OfficeMax will match competitors’ pricing, including Amazon, on all qualifying asck-to-school items. And the retailer is also providing several offers for teachers, including a free Office Depot/OfficeMax rewards membership with 25% back in bonus rewards for verified teachers on qualifying in-store and online purchases through Saturday, Sep. 27.
Teachers are also able to create and share personalized classroom wish lists with 5% back in rewards on qualifiying purchases made from their list, and parents and guardians can find curated school supply lists by grade on the Office Depot e-commerce site.
