  • Seattle’s Best Coffee opens 12 stores

    Seattle -- Seattle's Best Coffee, which is owned by Starbucks, has opened 12 stores since April, bringing it to almost 100 locations in the United States and Canada. The expansion reflects the chain’s strategy to build upon the brand’s broad distribution network of franchised locations, company-operated stores, relationships with restaurant chains, and foodservice locations.

  • Yankee Candle expanding into Canada

    South Deerfield, Mass. -- The Yankee Candle Co. has opened its first company-owned retail stores in Canada. Yankee Candle will open five stores in the greater Toronto area before Sept. 16. The first three locations in Pickering, St. Catharine's and Hamilton, Ontario, are now open. In the coming weeks, the company will open stores in Barre and Kitchener, Ontario.

  • Walmart debuts neighborhood market concept in Nebraska

    Omaha, Neb. -- Wal-Mart Stores said it will build its first neighborhood market in Nebraska, a 34,000-sq.-ft. store opening in northwest Omaha.

    Walmart last week opened the first of five market stores opening by Nov. 2 in Wichita, Kan. It was the retail giant's first venture into that city with the smaller market stores.

    The full range of products to be sold at the new Walmart market includes fresh meats, vegetables, dairy products, dry goods and staples, bakery and deli items, canned and packaged goods, and pet and household supplies.

  • Metro Commercial inks 7 Lumber Liquidator deals

    Mount Laurel, N.J. -- As part of its exclusive national representation of Lumber Liquidators, Metro Commercial announced that it has brokered seven leases totaling nearly 46,000 sq. ft. 

    In Georgia, an 8,468-sq.-ft. store in Kennesaw Landing and a 6,000-sq.-ft. store in Newnan opened in July. A 10,151-sq.-ft. store in West Allis, Wis., recently opened, as did a 5,200-sq.-ft. store at Palmetto Palms Business Park in Miami. A second Florida location opened in St. Petersburg earlier this year.

  • Shoe Carnival to open at Bardin Place Center

    Arlington, Texas -- Centro Properties Group US announced that Shoe Carnival will open a 10,210-sq.-ft. store at Bardin Place Center, located in Arlington, Texas. 

    Bardin Place Center is owned by Centro Properties, based in New York City.
     

  • Freebirds Burrito to open new restaurant in Fort Worth

    Dallas -- Cypress Equities said that Freebirds World Burrito has signed a lease to occupy a portion of a new development in Fort Worth, Texas, adjacent to the company’s West 7th development.

    The 2,370-sq.-ft. restaurant will mark the third Freebirds in Fort Worth, with other locations near Hulen Mall and at Alliance Town Center. Freebirds World Burrito is owned by Tavistock Restaurants and has more than 50 locations throughout Texas, California and Oklahoma.
     

  • Uniqlo opening two global flagships in Big Apple in October

    New York City -- Japanese fast-fashion giant Uniqlo is set to open its largest global flagship to date, an 89,000-sq.-ft. store on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The store, which will also be the larger single retailer on Fifth Avenue, will open on Oct. 14.

    One week later, Uniqlo will debut a second flagship in Manhattan, a 64,000-sq.-ft. store 34th St. It will be the chain’s second largest global flagship

  • Soca Clothing to open at Midtown Village

    Tuscaloosa, Ala. -- Dallas-based Cypress Equities said that local fashion boutique Soca Clothing will open a new store at Midtown Village, located in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

    The new 1,400-sq.-ft. store is slated to open in September.

    Midtown Village is a 350,000-sq.-ft. mixed-use community in the heart of Tuscaloosa featuring retail and restaurant space, as well as office suites.
