  • Tvsdesign partners with Mall Plaza to repurpose garage into retail

    Antofagasta, Chile -- Atlanta-based tvsdesign said Monday it has partnered with Mall Plaza to repurpose the ground level of a parking garage into a high-end retail destination in Antofagasta, Chile.

    The new retail destination, with tenants ranging from Roxy to Umbrale and Saville Row, opened in late 2011.

    Mall Plaza wanted this new project to be an extension of Aires, a branded environment created by tvsdesign in 2010 and featuring a resort-like shopping district originally located in Plaza Vespucio.

  • Dick’s announces three new stores

    Pittsburgh -- Dick’s Sporting Goods said Monday that it will open three new stores in three states on March 7.

    A new store in St. George, Utah, will open simultaneously with new locations in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Boardman, Ohio. Giveaways and special events will accompany each opening.

    The St. George, Utah, store, the retailer’s third in the state, is located at Red Rock Commons shopping center. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., store joins 17 other Dick’s stores in the state and will be located at the Regions Bank Plaza.

  • Stein Mart to debut three new stores on March 15

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Stein Mart said Monday it will open three new stores on March 15, located in Irvine, Calif.; Suwanee, Ga.; and Sunset Hills, Mo.

    The Irvine store is a relocation of another Irvine location. The two new and one relocated store bring Stein Mart’s total store count to 264.

    “We are pleased to announce the expansion of our footprint in these three existing markets,” said Jay Stein, interim CEO.

  • Yard House and Elephant Bar to open at Northridge Fashion Center

    Northridge, Calif. -- Two new restaurants will join the tenant lineup at Northridge Fashion Center, located in Northride, Calif. The center will also add an outdoor amphitheater.

    Scheduled to open late in fall 2012, Yard House and Elephant Bar will join the center's restaurant row, which already features California Pizza Kitchen, Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill, Claim Jumper and Romano's Macaroni Grill.

  • Ross plans midwestern growth push

    St. Louis -- A Ross Dress for Less executive suggested that the midwestern United States offers significant growth potential for the discounter. In an interview on the St. Louis Today website, reported Monday, the company’s VP for the midwest region Fred Shuey said that Ross’s two just-opened St. Louis stores will be joined by more.

  • Neiman Marcus to open at Roosevelt Field Mall

    Garden City, N.J. -- A Thursday report in the Wall Street Journal said that Neiman Marcus has moved on from its earlier plans to open a department store in the Mall at Oyster Bay, located in Syosset, N.Y., and owned by Taubman, and has instead decided to open a new 100,000-sq.-ft. anchor store at Simon Property Group’s Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City.

    The new store, slated for 2015 completion, will be part of a $200-million redevelopment of Roosevelt Field.

  • Sears Canada to close three stores in major cities

    Toronto -- Sears Canada Inc. said on Friday it is shutting down three downtown stores in Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa. The move follows an announcement last month by Sears Holdings, the majority owner of Sears Canada, that it will raise about $770 million by spinning off parts of its business and selling prime real estate.

  • Regency Centers announces ground-up development in Houston

    Jacksonville, Fla. -- Shopping center owner Regency Centers said Thursday that it has launched construction on Southpark at Cinco Ranch, a 260,000-sq.-ft. neighborhood center anchored by Kroger, in Fort Bend County, Houston.

    In partnership with Excel Commercial Real Estate, Regency Centers began construction of the center’s first phase on Feb. 20, with anchor openings scheduled for fourth quarter 2012.
