  • Report: American Eagle looking for new chief executive

    New York City -- American Eagle Outfitters is looking for a new chief executive, the Wall Street Journal reported.

    James O'Donnell, 70, has been CEO since 2003 and is said to be retiring, according to the report. Chairman Jay Schottenstein, a longtime retailer who also chairs the board of discount footwear chain DSW, is heading the board's search. Schottenstein was CEO of the company from 1992 to 2002.

  • Robert P. Ingle, founder of Ingles Markets, dies at age 77

    Asheville, N.C. -- Ingles Markets announced Monday that its founder and CEO Robert P. Ingle died on Sunday at age 77.

    Ingle founded the company in 1965 and served as chairman of the board from 1965 until May 2004 and thereafter has served as a director. He has served as CEO since 1965, and president from 1965 until 1982.

    His son Robert P. Ingle II has been named his successor.
     

  • Brooks Bros. retains branding firm

    New York City -- Strategic branding firm Graj + Gustavsen said Monday that it has been retained by Brooks Bros. to consult on the apparel retailer’s branding initiatives.

    According to Lou Amendola, chief merchandising officer for Brooks Bros., “We are excited to be working with the team at Graj + Gustavsen. Their deep expertise in consumer brand positioning and insight into market trends made them the ideal partner as we continue to explore brand building opportunities for Brooks Bros.”

  • Family Dollar in arrangement with Marketing Management

    Matthews, N.C. -- Family Dollar Stores launched its strategic alignment with Marketing Management, Inc. (MMI) in front of more than 100 key suppliers at the company's Private Brand Summit Thursday in Charlotte, N.C. Through this exclusive on-site alignment, MMI will assist Family Dollar with private brand sourcing, product development, category analytics, assortment strategy, quality assurance and customer insights.

  • 7-Eleven rolling out in-store TV network chainwide

    New York City -- Harris Corp. and Digital Display Networks are bringing one of the largest digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising networks in the United States -- 7-Eleven TV -- to full nationwide deployment.

  • Zale makes executive appointments

    Dallas -- Zale Corp. announced that Jeannie Barsam has been named senior VP merchandise planning and allocation. She was most recently senior VP planning, allocation and company planning for Charlotte Russe.

    In other appointments, Zale named Toyin Ogun as senior VP human resources and customer service. Prior to that, he was senior VP human resources, L.L. Bean.

  • Report: Kmart offering paperless receipts

    New York City -- Kmart is now offering paperless receipts, according to a report in the Detroit Examiner.

    Customers who sign up for the chain’s My Rewards program are given the chance to opt-in to the new paperless offer. In the program My Rewards members make a purchase at the store and the receipt is sent by e-mail. Unless the receipt is printed at home or work by the customer there is no paper.

  • Tiffany appoints executive VP

    New York City -- Tiffany & Co. has named Frederic Cumenal as executive VP, effective March 10.

    Cumenal, 51, will be responsible for the company’s businesses in Asia, Japan, Europe and Emerging Markets, and will report to chairman and CEO Michael J. Kowalski. He joins Tiffany from the LVMH Group where most recently he was president and CEO of Moët & Chandon, S.A.
