  • SuperValu appoints marketing exec

    Minneapolis -- SuperValu Inc. said Tuesday it has named Michael Moore as executive VP and chief marketing officer.

    Moore, 47, joined the company in 2011 in the role of business transformation officer. He succeeds Julie Dexter Berg, who left the company to return to the West Coast.

    Moore previously held a variety of executive leadership positions within customer business development at Procter & Gamble.
     

  • Report: Walmart Supercenters eliminates overnight greeters

    New York City -- Wal-Mart Stores no longer is employing greeters during the overnight shift at its approximate 3,000 U.S. supercenters, Bloomberg reported.

    For the past six months, the chain has been reassigning greeters at supercenters to other jobs, the report said.
     

  • Bon-Ton names former Lord & Taylor chief as new president and CEO

    York, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Stores said Tuesday it has appointed Brendan L. Hoffman as president and CEO, effective Feb. 7.

    Hoffman replaces Bud Bergren, who is a current member of the board of directors and who will transition to the role of the chairman.

  • Retail Social Juice Index adds 70 brands

    Albany, N.Y. -- Social media marketing agency Media Logic said Tuesday that 70 new brands have been added to its Retail Social Juice Index, bringing the total number of tracked brands to nearly 700.

    The additions, including eBay, DKNY and Zappos, creates a more comprehensive industry index and provide users with a broader competitive set for comparison, according to Media Logic.

  • Collective Brands names head of Keds division

    Lexington, Mass. -- Collective Brands Performance + Lifestyle Group announced on Tuesday the appointment of Rick Blackshaw as president of the Keds brand, effective immediately.

    Blackshaw, who most recently served as VP and general manager for the Chuck Taylor All Star Division of Converse, succeeds Kristin Kohler Burrows, who left to pursue other opportunities. 
     

  • Rite Aid, WorkPlace Systems team for workforce management solution

    New York City -- Retail workforce management solution-provider WorkPlace Systems announced that Rite Aid will use WorkPlace OnLine, a cloud-based Schedule and Attendance Management service, at all Rite Aid stores.

  • Target names John Mulligan CFO

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. announced Tuesday it has promoted current senior VP-finance John Mulligan to executive VP and CFO, effective April 1.

    The announcement concludes a comprehensive search which included both internal and external candidates, said Target.

    Mulligan succeeds Doug Scovanner, who announced his retirement last November.

    A 16-year Target veteran, Mulligan has held leadership positions in finance, target.com and human resources.

  • Town Shoes selects PeopleAnswers for HR solution

    Dallas -- HR solution-provider PeopleAnswers and Canada-based Town Shoes, which sells under Town Shoes and The Shoe Co., announced Tuesday that Town Shoes will use the PeopleAnswers pre-employment and employee selection solution in its 124 stores across Canada.
