  • Study: Out-of-stocks and dirty stores impact grocery shopping experience

    Plainview, N.Y. -- Out-of-stocks are the most important overall element that impact satisfaction with the grocery trip experience, according to a study by The Retail Feedback Group. Satisfaction among shoppers unable to find all items they had planned to buy on their shopping trip averaged 3.97 on a five-point scale (with 5 as the highest), compared with 4.54 among shoppers who did find all items.

  • ABC partners with Target and Neiman Marcus in first-ever advertising integration on hit TV show

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. and The Neiman Marcus Group will promote their upcoming joint holiday collection by serving as the sole sponsors of the mid-season finale of the hit ABC television show “Revenge.”

    In place of standard broadcast commercials, the retailers are working directly with the creative team of “Revenge” to create original content incorporating the Target and Neiman Marcus holiday collection. The show will air on Nov. 11.

  • Family Dollar names chief marketer

    Matthews, N.C. — Family Dollar Stores has named Jocelyn Wong to the position of SVP, chief marketing officer. Wong will report to Michael Bloom, president and COO.

  • Target awareness strong well before Canadian entry

    Cambridge, Mass. — Target should be feeling confident about its upcoming entry into Canada, as a recent survey from Kantar Retail and TNS Canada revealed that 75% of Canadians are aware of the retailer.

    Furthermore, 43% of Canadian consumers said that they were likely to shop at Target Canada for grocery or health and beauty aids and 50% were likely to shop at Target Canada for general merchandise or apparel.

    Secaucus, N.J. — The Children's Place Retail Stores has named Tricia Griffith to the company's board of directors.

  • Gap Inc. streamlines leadership to fuel growth

    San Francisco — Gap Inc. is bringing several of its divisions under the leadership of one executive in order to fuel long-term growth.

    With the start of the 2013 fiscal year, the company will bring together its North American, international, online, outlet and franchise divisions under a single global executive for each of its Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy brands. In addition, the company will form a new Innovation and Digital Strategy team to further its leadership position in this area.

    Houston — Waste Management has partnered with Sam's Club to provide membership discounts to small and medium business customers, allowing them access to Sam’s Club’s savings on bulk merchandise and supplies.

  • Humana-Walmart plan open for enrollment for seniors

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Walmart and Humana have teamed up again to help Medicare beneficiaries afford their prescriptions. With annual enrollment open until Dec. 7, 2012, for 2013 Medicare plans, the Humana-Walmart Preferred Rx Plan announced that it offers one monthly plan premium of $18.50 a month for beneficiaries in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., regardless of where they live.
