  • GMA launches website advocating for genetically modified food

    Grocery Manufacturers Association has launched www.FactsAboutGMOs.org, a new website about genetically modified food ingredients designed to put consumers’ concerns about their safety and environmental impact to rest.

    Pearle Vision has debuted a new store design, in Legacy Village, Lyndhurst, Ohio. The  Cleveland-area store features a completely revamped look,  from a new brand logo and signage to modernized displays and a completely transformed floor plan.

    The design, by WD Partners, incorporates the company's rich history, with a new eyeglass icon that speaks to the heritage of Dr. Pearle and the Pearle Vision brand. Accompanying the new logo and signage is "Est. 1961," a tribute that reinforces the company's commitment to a 50-year legacy.

  • PBteen unveils first-ever collection with a celeb stylist, designer

    PBteen has unveiled an inaugural collaboration with celebrity stylists and fashion designers Emily Current and Meritt Elliott. The exclusive, one-of-a-kind collection is the first collaboration of its kind for PBteen and represents Current’s and Elliott’s debut into the world of interiors and home furnishings.

  • Shopko strengthens e-commerce

    Shopko is turning to Innotrac Corporation, a commerce provider that integrates digital technology, fulfillment, contact center and business intelligence solutions, to help the retailer bolster its e-commerce business.

    The retailer carries products in a broad range of categories including apparel, electronics, health and beauty, home goods, toys and sporting goods and furniture. Shopko manufactures its own private label brands and in addition to carrying name brands such as Keurig, Adidas, Reebok, Kitchen Aid, Fisher-Price and Sony.

  • Select Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores debut kitchen remodeling services

    More than 20 Sears Home Appliance Showroom and Sears Appliance & Hardware stores in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware have unveiled kitchen remodeling services from Kitchen Tune-Up, a national kitchen and bath remodeling franchise.

    The stores feature an interactive Kitchen Tune-Up kiosk, where customers can learn about affordable options to update their kitchen, view cabinet door samples and use an iPad to see project ideas and book an appointment for a no-obligation estimate.

  • Lands’ End seeks to make global e-commerce easier

    Dodgeville, Wis. -- Lands' End has launched an easier and more efficient online shopping experience for international customers. Customers can now view local pricing the same way they would if they were ordering from a local site.

    U.S. prices on landsend.com can be converted into more than 60 local currencies.

    In addition, all fees (duty, tax and shipping) will be displayed and included in the order total at checkout.

  • Misguided marketing affects Pier 1 Q2 results

    Pier 1 Imports president and CEO Alex W. Smith identified misguided marketing and store assortments as the primary causes for the retailer’s poor earnings and performance for the second quarter ended Aug. 31. 

    The retailer substantially missed expectations with a 32% decline in net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2014 compared to the same period last year. Net income totaled $17.8 million in the most recent fiscal quarter, down from $26.2 million.
