Bon-Ton elects Spencer Gifts exec to board

The Bon-Ton Stores has elected Steven Silverstein to the company’s board of directors. Silverstein will serve on the human resources and compensation committee.

Silverstein has been president and CEO of Spencer Spirit Holdings since 2003. The company operates two main retail brands, Spencer Gifts and Spirit Halloween. From 1992 to 2003, Silverstein served in positions of increasing responsibility at Linens ‘n Things, Inc., including president. Prior to that, Silverstein served as a divisional merchandise manager of Bloomingdale’s, Inc. He began his retail career at Macy’s in 1981.
