  • Rite Aid enjoys fourth-consecutive profitable quarter

    Rite Aid reached a milestone in its store conversions and saw growth in the latest expansion to its loyalty program as it posted its fourth-consecutive profitable quarter.

    During the second quarter of fiscal year 2014, the number of stores in the chain that have been converted to the Wellness and Genuine Well-Being formats surpassed the 1,000 mark, with the total number of stores converted totaling 1,019 — including 114 under the newer Genuine Well-Being format — and expected to reach 1,200 by the end of the year. 

  • Progresso has new soup for you

    Progresso Soup has introduced some new varieties of ready-to-eat soups to its product lineup, including in its Progresso Light and Progresso Heart Healthy lines.

    Joining the Progresso Light line are Light Chicken Corn Chowder and Chicken and Cheese Enchilada.

    Three new soups will join the Rich and Hearty line: Tomato Florentine with Italian Sausage, Lentil and Andouille Sausage, and Creamy Alfredo with Penne and Chicken.

  • Publix Pharmacy ranks No. 1 in customer satisfaction

    Boulder, Col. -- Publix Pharmacy is North America’s favorite based on customer satisfaction, according to a new study of 3,600 consumers conducted by customer intelligence solutions provider Market Force Information. Target was a close second and Kroger ranked third. All three received high marks in operational attributes such as service, cleanliness, atmosphere and checkout times.

    Walgreens and CVS/pharmacy ranked the highest when those consumers were asked to name their pharmacy chain, with 18% identifying Walgreens and 17% CVS.  

  • HH Gregg prepares for holiday with 500 job openings

    Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics retailer HH Gregg announced plans to hire 500 qualified home appliance and electronics salespeople for its 228 stores in preparation for the holiday shopping season. 

    The company is accepting applications through the end of the month and will be hiring for stores in the Midwest, South, Mid-Atlantic and Great Lakes regions. Associates hired in advance of the holiday season will be offered permanent full-time and part-time sales positions.

  • Overstock.com leverages social media for sweepstakes

    Overstock.com will be leveraging social media to hold a sweepstakes inspired by its new "The Good Good" advertising campaign.

    Contest entrants participate by adding an image or pin representing the work of a non-profit that inspires them to Pinterest. Entrants will then share that pin on the Overtock.com website. One winner will be awarded $2,500, and Overstock.com employees will give the non-profit 100 hours of time.

  • Rue La La hires publishing exec as CMO

    Boston – Rue La La has appointed Robin Domeniconi as chief marketing officer overseeing the company's marketing and creative departments. Domeniconi will report to Steve Davis, CEO of Rue La La.

    Domeniconi previously served as chief brand officer for Elle Group, In addition, she has held the position of VP of advertising sales, marketing, and publishing at Microsoft as well as seven-year tenure at Time Inc. where she launched and published Real Simple magazine.
