Saks holidays more festive than ever
Enchanted holidays are ahead for Saks Fifth Avenue and its shoppers. On Monday, November 24, Saks’ flagship store in New York will debutAn Enchanted Experience – a new show featuring the unveiling of the store's holiday windows and a dramatic light display incorporating the entire building.
The Rockettes will perform on the opening night with a line of 36 dancers on the streets of Fifth Avenue. The windows and light display presented exclusively by Master Card will continue throughout the holiday season.
"This year, everything from the projection and lightshow to the architectural decor is simply spectacular," commented Mark Briggs, chief marketing and creative officer for Saks Fifth Avenue. "We have incorporated new, electrifying elements, making it an experience unlike any other…an experience to remember."
An Enchanted Experience is the first show of its kind, integrating LEDs, strobes, up-lights, video projections and music, which will culminate with a fireworks by Grucci. The show will take an estimated 9,000+ hours to produce. It requires 71,000 lights, 11,000 linear feet of garlands stretching 30 feet high, and 6 state-of-the-art 3D projectors.
The entire show is an homage to the legacy of Saks Fifth Avenue, according to the company. Saks’ roaring 20’s roots will be celebrated this year with Art Deco glamour in the form of light and music. After the grand debut, the program will continue to run every day and night through the new year.
Saks’ holiday window display will feature six animated windows transformed into scenes from classic fairy tales rendered in an Art Deco style, with iconic New York locations providing the backdrop.
"We want to leave our audience breathless," remarked Marigay McKee, president of Saks Fifth Avenue. "The Experience is Everything. This year'sAn Enchanted Experiencepromises to yield an experience more grand, more luxurious, and more sensational than New York has ever seen."
The remaining Saks Fifth Avenue windows will feature fashion and holiday attire, all presented in an Art Deco style inspired by the artist Erte. The corner windows of the flagship store will have theatrical Erte-inspired costume pieces.
For the first time, Saks Fifth Avenue will live stream the unveiling of the holiday windows this year. Audiences from across the globe may viewAn Enchanted Experience, the Rockettes exclusive performance, and the grand windows unveiling in real time viawww.saks.com/holiday.
