Papa John’s re-ups with NFL

Papa John’s is the most recognized brand among fans of the National Football League and the chain intends to keep it that way, announcing it had renewed its multiyear deal as the official pizza sponsor of the NFL and the Super Bowl.



In that regard, Papa John’s is permitted to use NFL logos in its advertising and conduct integrated marketing campaigns involving the NFL Kickoff event and the Pro Bowl in addition to the Super Bowl.



The deal also gives Papa John’s access to NFL stars as promoters of its products. Founder and CEO John Schnatter has achieved celebrity status as co-star of several TV spots with Peyton Manning.



A Major League Baseball sponsor as well, Papa John’s attributed a near 5% rise in same-store sales during the second quarter to its “Papa Slam” promotion, which awards online pizza orderers 40% discounts the day after a player hits a grand slam.
