Kohl’s reveals Black Friday strategy
On the heels of moderating expectations for its third quarter performance, Kohl’s announced plans to improve results during the holidays, including an around the clock opening schedule beginning at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Kohl’s will open its doors at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and remain open through midnight Friday, Nov. 28. The retailer will also offer a variety of omnichannel holiday services, including a daily “Today’s Deals” section on Kohls.com.
In addition, Kohl’s Yes2You rewards program will provide extra savings as well as exclusive offers and opportunities to earn bonus points. Other new holiday features include a redesigned mobile app allowing customers to browse and shop by category, manage and redeem their points and scan their Kohl’s Cash and savings offers to their mobile wallet to be used in-store at checkout. Kohl’s will provide the option to buy items online and pick up in store at more than 100 locations. Customers picking up their purchase receive access to premier, designated parking spaces.
Also, more than 800 stores will have the ability to ship online orders from local stores in their area. Kohl’s is also testing Google Express in select delivery areas where Google Express members can shop local stores online and get items delivered on the same day or overnight.
Kohl’s will serve as the exclusive retail partner for “The Voice” and the American Music Awards for the second year in a row, with integrations that merge traditional media with social and digital media. New this year, Kohl’s will partner with “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for Kimmel’s take on holiday shopping from inside a Kohl’s store. Additionally, Kohl’s will serve as the exclusive retail partner for the premier of “The People Magazine Awards,” which celebrate the most influential and talked-about people of the year.
