Another marketing first for Target
Target Corp. is set to make history and take the notion of “live” to an entirely new level during the 2016 Grammys Awards, which airs Monday, Feb.15, on CBS.
The retailer is sponsoring the debut of Gwen Stefani’s newest music video, "Make Me Like You,” which will air during the broadcast. But in a unique twist, the video will be acted out, filmed and broadcast live during a four-minute commercial break. It will be the first music video ever created on television.
“It’s never been done before, but that’s never stopped us! Guests tuning into the 58th Annual Grammy Awards will catch our groundbreaking campaign during a four-minute commercial break, live from Los Angeles…,” Target said in a post on its Bullseye website.
The live experience promises to take viewers through multiple sets and costume changes in real time, including guest appearances and special surprises.
Target is tying the promotion into its social media channels, telling fans to keep an eye on Periscope, Facebook Live and Snapchat to see a variety of views and vantage points related to the video.
In addition to the live music video, Target is teaming with Stefani for a deluxe edition of her new — and third solo — album, “This Is What the Truth Feels Like.”
