  • Rite Aid same-store sales up 4.3% in March

    Camp Hill, Pa. – Rite Aid’s positive momentum continued in March, with the drugstore chain reporting a 4.3% increase in March overall same-store sales.

    Total drugstore sales for the four-week period increased 4.1% to $2.026 billion, compared to $1.947 billion for the same period last year. Prescription sales accounted for 69.9% of sales.

    Walmart Vice President of Supply Chain Services Debbie Hodges is the featured speaker at the April gathering of Doing Business in Bentonville.

    The organization recently confirmed that Hodges would be the featured speaker at an event to be held Thursday April 16 at 7 a.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton in Bentonville.

    Among the topics Hodges plans to address are the role and structure of the Supply Chain Services team, key initiatives currently underway and the impact on suppliers.

  • Nordstrom refinances credit

    Seattle - Nordstrom Inc. has completed a new five-year, $800 million senior unsecured revolving credit facility. The new facility replaces an $800 million senior unsecured revolving credit facility that was scheduled to mature in March 2018.

    The revolving credit facility may be used for general corporate purposes and is scheduled to mature in April 2020. At present, there are no outstanding borrowings under the revolver.

  • Lumber Liquidators Q1 sales top estimates

    Toano, Va. – Despite bad publicity from a March 2015 “60 Minutes” report alleging carcinogenic materials in the laminate of some Chinese hardwood it sells, Lumber Liquidators beat Wall Street sales estimates in first quarter 2015. In a sales update, Lumber Liquidators said sales were $260 million, an increase of 6% from first quarter 2014.

  • Report: Belk exploring possibility of a sale

    Belk Inc. has hired Goldman Sachs to explore its strategic options, including the possibility of a sale that could value the family owned department store chain at as much as $4 billion, Reuters reports.

    In response to the Reuters report, Belk issued a response saying that it had hired Goldman Sachs to help it explore all options for its future. Belk added that it expects to conclude its analysis in the next several months.

    Belk operates about 300 stores in 16 Southern states.
