McDonald’s renews AI support of finance, HR functions

McDonald’s Corp. is extending a longstanding partnership with a provider of enterprise AI technology.

The fast-food hamburger giant is entering a multi-year extension of its strategic partnership with Cognizant, which originated in 2017. This renewed agreement will focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance McDonald's staff enablement, customer experience and operational efficiency.

As part of the renewed agreement, McDonald’s will continue leveraging Cognizant solutions in enterprise areas including global finance systems and human capital management, which encompass payroll processing, franchisee management, master data management and legal applications.

The retailer is utilizing Cognizant solutions that are include innovative technologies such as generative AI, cloud and enterprise AI, as well as the vendor’s digital engineering and quality assurance services. Specific solutions McDonald’s will deploy include Cognizant Neuro IT operations and Skygrade.

The retailer, which is also in a strategic partnership with Accenture to leverage the latest edge and generative AI technologies, hopes to achieve better observability, reliability and agility in its enterprise.

Based in Chicago, McDonald's operates more than 40,000 locations in over 100 countries. Approximately 95% of McDonald's restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent local business owners.
