    Highland Village, Texas -- Trademark Property Co., the Fort Worth-based retail and mixed-use development, investment, and third-party services firm, announced that Whole Foods Market is now open at The Shops at Highland Village, in Highland Village, Texas. The store is the first Denton County location for the natural and organic foods retailer.

    Atlanta -- Home Depot Inc. confirmed that some 56 million payment cards were likely compromised in its five-month data breach, making it the largest known breach of a retail company’s computer network to date. By comparison, the widely publicized breach at Target last December affected 40 million credit and debit cards.

  • Urban Retail acquires pair of Michigan shopping centers for $51 million

    Chicago -- Urban Retail Properties, LLC, announced the acquisition of Oakland Square and Oakland Plaza in Troy, Michigan, by its parent company RAIT Financial Trust. Purchase price was $50.8 million.

    Both properties are adjacent to Oakland Mall, a 1.5-million-sq.-ft. super-regional center that Urban Retail currently manages.

  • Walmart to up holiday hiring by nearly 10%

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Walmart on Thursday said it plans to hire 60,000 temporary workers for the holiday season, an increase of nearly 10% from last year.

    The discounter also said that current workers who want more hours during the holidays will receive priority.
