Whole Foods Market opens at The Shops At Highland Village

9/19/2014

Highland Village, Texas -- Trademark Property Co., the Fort Worth-based retail and mixed-use development, investment, and third-party services firm, announced that Whole Foods Market is now open at The Shops at Highland Village, in Highland Village, Texas. The store is the first Denton County location for the natural and organic foods retailer.

The new 42,000-sq.-ft. Whole Foods Market offers unique firsts in the Dallas/Fort Worth market, including the largest clothing selection in the area, a cornbread bar offering salted caramel, bacon and blueberry flavors, and a 12-ft. counter where 20 different selections of sausage will be made in-store. Approximately 300 Texas suppliers will offer 1,500 unique items in the Highland Village store, including 100 vendors from the Dallas area.

The new Whole Foods Market was built with reclaimed materials including wood, historical brick, oak and pine. Skylights allow natural light into the store and reduce electricity costs. Four bike racks attract exercisers, and a water fountain for filling sports bottles has a ticker that shows how many plastic bottles are being saved from the landfill by filling reusable bottles.

In March, AEW Capital Management purchased The Shops at Highland Village and hired Trademark Property Co. to manage it. Ravi Wadhwa came on board in April as the general manger for The Shops of Highland Village.

“Trademark was brought on to manage, lease and evolve the property into a state-of-the-art town center,” said Trademark CEO Terry Montesi. “We are thrilled to welcome Whole Foods Market to the property and consider the opening a great way to kick off the redevelopment at The Shops at Highland Village.”

Trademark is in the planning stages of a major renovation for The Shops at Highland Village. The 352,000-sq.-ft. open-air center is anchored by Barnes & Noble Booksellers, AMC Highland Village 12 and Whole Foods Market. More than 11 restaurants including Grimaldi’s, Coal Brick Oven Pizzeria, Blue Goose Cantina and Patrizio are offered at the center.

In addition, there are over 60 specialty stores including Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Luke’s Locker, White House | Black Market, Chico’s, Jos. A. Bank.
