  • 99¢ Only Stores open in Menifee, Calif.

    City of Commerce, Calif. — 99¢ Only Stores will celebrate the grand opening of its new store in Menifee, Calif., by selling Westinghouse 40-inch flat-screen TVs for just 99 cents to the first nine customers in line.

    The 18,000-sq.-ft. store will feature a perishable food department with produce, dairy and frozen foods. 99¢ Only Stores currently operates 335 stores in California, Texas, Arizona and Nevada.

     

  • Jared leases three stores in Texas

    Dallas — Jared, The Galleria of Jewelry, has signed leases for new locations in Lubbock, Corpus Christi and Midland, Texas, according to Venture Commercial Real Estate, which represented Jared in the transactions. All locations are under construction and expected to open soon.

  • Fairway unveils new mobile app

    Fairway Market has launched a new mobile app designed to provide an enriched experience for its shoppers who love to cook. It is available on the iPhone App Store, and can be downloaded in any Fairway location since the stores all offer free Wi-Fi.

    App users can create individual food profiles by choosing dietary preferences, and then explore beautifully photographed products along with step-by-step gourmet recipes curated by Fairway experts.

  • RSR launches self-assessment tool for omni-channel maturity

    Austin, Texas -- Retail Systems Research (RSR) today launched the RSR Omni-channel Maturity Survey, an online self-assessment tool that helps retailers determine where they are on the road to omni-channel maturity. Sponsored by Starmount, the survey enables retailers to understand the traits of today’s omni-channel leaders and the technology infrastructure that is required for omni-channel retailing.

  • H.J. Martin and Son helps Penney complete in-store shops project

    Green Bay, Wis. -- H.J. Martin and Son helped J.C. Penney add two new in-store shops: Disney and GiggleBaby.

    Fifty crews of two people – 100 total – from H.J. Martin were dedicated to the project, which spanned two-and-a-half weeks from mid-September until early October. In all, H.J. Martin performed the work in 218 Penney stores across the United States, with the exception of the south and southeast.

  • Easton Gateway breaks ground

    Columbus, Ohio — Steiner + Associates, The Georgetown Co. and Limited Brands have broken ground on Easton Gateway, a 54-acre addition to Easton Town Center.

    Nearly 15 years after Easton Town Center opened, Easton Gateway will introduce a number of noteworthy additions to the master-planned community, including new brands and big box retail.

  • Gap, Banana Republic offer omni-channel ‘reserve in store’

    San Francisco – Gap Inc. is rolling out its “Reserve in Store” capabilities to all U.S. Banana Republic stores and more than 200 Gap stores in 15 major U.S. markets. The launch, which follows a successful pilot in San Francisco and Chicago-area Gap and Banana Republic stores, makes it easy for customers to shop online or with their mobile device, place items on hold and pick them up in local stores.
