  • Visa helps merchants go mobile

    FOSTER CITY, Calif. — Visa announced that it has signed an agreement with leading mobile commerce provider ROAM, an Ingenico company, to enable merchants of all sizes to accept electronic payments using mobile technology. The companies aim to displace cash payments by expanding the reach of electronic payments to new merchant categories, and by making it easier for merchants and acquirers to take advantage of secure mobile acceptance solutions.

  • Home Hardware Center completes implementation of Epicor Eagle in a hosted environment

    Dublin, Calif. -- Epicor Software Corp. announced that Home Hardware Center, part of Central Network Retail Group, completed its integration of Epicor  Eagle in February 2013. It is Epicor’s first major installation of Epicor Eagle delivered in a software as a service (SaaS) hosted environment.

  • Neil Ashe has some explaining to do

    President and CEO of Walmart Global eCommerce, Neil Ashe, made a cameo appearance during Walmart’s fourth quarter earnings presentation to shed light on omnichannel investments that caused the company to forecast 2013 profits below analysts’ estimates.

    Walmart’s forecast first quarter earnings in the range of $1.11 to $1.16 and full year earnings in the range of $5.20 to $5.40. Embedded in those numbers are huge investments in ecommerce that will cost the company about nine cents a share.

  • Sneak Peak: J.C. Penney’s Joe Fresh shop

    New York -- J.C. Penney has set a March 15 launch date for the debut of its Joe Fresh in-store shop concept. The Canadian fast-fashion apparel brand will be presented in dedicated shops, ranging from 750 sq. ft. to 2,500 sq. ft., in nearly 700 J.C. Penney stores.

    The Joe Fresh collection will focus on modern basics for women, with everything priced under $70, according to J.C. Penney.

  • What's in a name: Casual Male now Destination XL Group

    CANTON, Mass. — Casual Male Retail Group, a specialty retailer of big and tall men's apparel and accessories, is changing its corporate name to Destination XL Group Inc. to reflect the company's transition to its Destination XL (DXL) retail stores and DestinationXL.com e-commerce website.

    As previously announced, the company's ticker symbol was changed to "DXLG" effective Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012.  The name change will be effective as of Monday, Feb. 25, 2013.

  • Lowe's enhances multi-channel experience with SVP appointment

    MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe’s announced that Lara Lee will join the company as SVP customer experience design, effective Feb 25. Lee will report to Robert J. (Bob) Gfeller, customer experience design executive.

    Lee will be responsible for translating business strategies into integrated, multi-channel experiences that deliver value to home improvement consumers. Named a “Master of Innovation” by BusinessWeek in 2006, Lee has driven customer-centric business transformation for more than 20 years.

  • CSA conference debuts real estate track; Container Store, Starbucks, Macy’s among retail speakers

    New York -- The SPECS conference, presented each year by Chain Store Age, will debut a real estate track as part of the 49th annual event. Held in Dallas from March 17 to March 20 at the Hilton Anatole, SPECS will feature real estate workshops designed toward educating and informing the retail development executives who attend the SPECS conference.
