  • Sears.com to offer marketplace insights on webinar

    SEATTLE — Sears' online marketplace will be the subject of a webinar on Feb. 26 hosted by Mercent, a technology company that enables retailers to profitably reach and convert more shoppers online.

    Titled "Selling on Sears.com - Your Access to more than 15 Million Loyal Shoppers," the webinar will discuss Sears.com's role as the third largest online marketplace and how its expanding its reach and visibility against Amazon.com, eBay and Google.

  • Which Wich to open at West 7th

    Fort Worth, Texas -- Cypress Equities announced that sandwich chain Which Wich will open at its West 7th mixed-use development in Fort Worth, Texas.

    The 1,394-sq.-ft. shop will be located between existing West 7th merchants, Sweet Tomatoes and Wink Threading Salon.

  • Lowe’s names SVP customer experience design

    Mooresville, N.C. -- Lowe’s announced that Lara Lee will join the company as SVP customer experience design, effective Feb. 25. She will report to Robert J. (Bob) Gfeller, customer experience design executive.
     
    Lee joined Lowe’s from global design and innovation firm Continuum, where she served as chief innovation and operating officer.

    Lee will be responsible for translating business strategies into integrated, multichannel experiences that deliver value to home improvement consumers.

     

  • Foot Locker increases capital expenditures for 2013

    New York -- Foot Locker announced that its board of directors has approved a $220 million capital expenditure program for 2013. The amount marks a significant increase over the approximately $163 million spent on in 2012.

    The company said it plans to invest in such growth initiatives as including new and innovative store formats; continued expansion in Europe; technology to improve its customers' experience; and robust capabilities for its digital segment.

    New York -- Google is planning to open freestanding retail stores in the United States, with the first flagship locations open in time for the 2013 holiday shopping season, according to a report by online site 9to5Google.

    “Google feels right now that many potential customers need to get hands-on experience with its products before they are willing to purchase," the website reported.

    NEW YORK -- Google is looking to extend its presence in the retail space, by opening freestanding stores in the United States.

    According to a report by online site 9to5Google, the first flagship locations will open in time for the 2013 holiday shopping season.

    “Google feels right now that many potential customers need to get hands-on experience with its products before they are willing to purchase," the website reported.

  • Best Buy to make holiday price-matching permanent year round

    New York -- Best Buy Co. is making its holiday price-matching guarantee a year-round program. Taking aim against the increasingly popular practice of “showrooming,” the consumer electronics chain will match online prices starting March 3.

    Best Buy’s permanent price match has been expanded to cover almost all categories of merchandise. It does not cover phones purchased under contract.

    Best Buy will also decrease its merchandise return policy from 30 days to 15 days
