  • Dick’s declares holiday victory

    The shortened holiday season and cold weather that hurt many retailers didn’t faze Dick’s Sporting Good, where same-store sales are expected to be double what the company originally forecast.

    The nation’s largest sporting goods retailer said same-store sales adjusted to account for a shift in the reporting calendar increased 6% compared to expectations of a 2% to 3% increase.

    Charlotte, N.C. - Belk has partnered with HelloWorld, Inc. (formerly ePrize) to create a campaign that allows consumers to submit a photo and brief description of a couple's love story for a chance to win a $20,000 event, like a wedding, and a private concert with singer Edwin McCain.

  • Krispy Kreme K-Cups?

    Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, the company behind Keurig brewing technology, and retailer Krispy Kreme announced that the companies have reached an agreement to bring Krispy Kreme signature coffee to K-Cup packs for the Keurig brewing system.

    The companies are set to launch Krispy Kreme coffee K-Cups in both Smooth and Decaf by the end of 2014. The packs will be available at Keurig.com and KrispyKreme.com, as well as select Krispy Kreme shops, grocery, retail and away-from-home channels across the United States.

  • Dick’s same-store sales rise 7% in Q4

    Pittsburgh – Same-store sales at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Inc. rose 6% during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013, unshifted for the 53rd week in fiscal 2012. The same-store sales results compare to guidance provided in November 2013 for a 2% to 3% increase on an unshifted basis.

  • Home Depot bolsters online business with new direct fulfillment center

    The Home Depot has opened a new direct fulfillment center (DFC) in the Locust Grove suburb of Atlanta.

    It is the first of three new DFCs the company will open across the U.S. in the next two years, adding more than 3 million sq. ft. and approximately 1,000 jobs to its supply chain. The new distribution centers will increase the number of orders the company can ship the day they are received, increasing the speed of delivery for HomeDepot.com orders.
