  • Neiman Marcus launches shopping app

    Dallas – Neiman Marcus is launching the NM app for iPhone. Key features include shopping and the ability to text, email, call or FaceTime any sales associate directly from the app.

    Other features include checking on loyalty points and cards, viewing upcoming events such as designer appearances and promos, and the ability to follow the Neiman Marcus blog, read catalogs and watch videos. The app allows a customer to search by department to locate or contact sales associates at any Neiman Marcus store.  

  • Alliance Data renews agreement with HSN

    Dallas -- Alliance Data Systems, a global provider of data-driven marketing and loyalty solutions, today announced its Retail Services business has signed a multi-year renewal agreement to continue providing both private label and co-brand credit card services for lifestyle and entertainment retailer HSN.

  • Sears’ Lampert predicts retail ‘headed to where we already are’

    New York -- Sears Holdings’ CEO Eddie Lampert strongly defended his company in his annual letter to shareholders, saying not only does he believe Sears is headed in the right direction, but that “the entire retail industry is headed to where we already are.”

  • Target data breach may affect future profits

    Target continues to cope with the fallout of a data breach, which, as expected, hurt the company’s fourth-quarter results.

    The company incurred $61 million in expenses related to the breach during the quarter, but was able to bring the total impact to $17 million after applying a $44 million insurance payment.

    But the retailer added that it is not only unable to estimate future expenses related to the data breach but also warned that those costs may adversely affect operations results in the first quarter and full-year 2014 and future periods.

  • Mastercard offers mobile payment services to travelers

    MasterCard and Syniverse are partnering to deliver a number of mobile and payment services for consumers to use when traveling abroad. The two companies are currently in pilot-phase for an opt-in service that will enable card transactions for users only when they have their mobile device switched on in a specific geolocation abroad.

  • Cato Bakery deploys personalized POS solution

    San Francisco – Cato Bakery is utilizing a new iPad POS solution from Revel Systems and Index that provides customers with personalized recommendations and service. Customers can pay for their purchases and redeem personalized incentives with Index mobile technology, which is integrated directly with the Revel Systems point of sale.

    The partnership between Revel Systems and Index offers retailers with an integrated mobile payments, loyalty, and POS solution.

  • Hispanic shoppers really like mobile

    Hispanic consumers are outpacing non-Hispanics in their adoption of mobile, social and online sources for local shopping, according to BIA/Kelsey's Consumer Commerce Monitor study released this week.
