  • Retailers suffer analytics inferiority complex

    Improving shopper insights in omnichannel retailing is the top ranked priority for retailers who fear other operators may be doing a better job than they are. That is one of the key findings in a new research report from industry leader EKN that shows retailers still have a long way to go when it comes to leveraging the power of analytics.
     

  • Ahold to double Peapod’s U.S. capacity in 2014

    Zaandam, The Netherlands -- Ahold plans to significantly expand its Peapod presence in the U.S. market.

    "Peapod is expected to double its capacity in the U.S. in 2014," Dick Boer, Ahold CEO, told analysts during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.

  • Sears narrows loss in fourth quarter

    As far as sales go, Sears Holdings didn’t have a very happy holiday. But the company was still able to narrow its loss for the fourth quarter, as it lowered expenses and reduced inventory.

    The company said the costs of transforming into a member-centric retailer using an integrated online platform and the omnichannel Shop Your Way membership program fueled its net losses. It attributed declining revenues to lower same-store sales and having fewer stores in operation.

  • EBay Enterprise extends marketing partnership with Karmaloop

    King of Prussia, Pa. -- eBay Enterprise, a global provider of omnichannel solutions, including commerce technologies, retail order management, fulfillment and customer care services and marketing solutions, has extended its partnership with Karmaloop to provide marketing solutions that increase conversion.

  • Walmart acquires tech startup Yumprint

    San Bruno, Calif. -- WalmartLabs, Walmart’s online and digital development division, has acquired Seattle-based recipe technology startup Yumprint to expand its online grocery delivery services.

    Yumprint has a website and mobile app to search and discover new recipes from thousands of food blogs, plan meals and calculate nutritional information.

  • Walmart expands online grocery delivery services

    WalmartLabs, Walmart’s online and digital development division, has acquired Seattle-based recipe technology startup Yumprint to expand its online grocery delivery services.

    Yumprint has a website and mobile app to search and discover new recipes from thousands of food blogs, plan meals and calculate nutritional information.

    In a blog post, WalmartLabs credited Yumprint founders Chris Crittenden and Wes Dyer for their vision on how technology can improve how “all of consumers discover and prepare our meals.”

  • Neiman Marcus launches shopping app

    Dallas – Neiman Marcus is launching the NM app for iPhone. Key features include shopping and the ability to text, email, call or FaceTime any sales associate directly from the app.

    Other features include checking on loyalty points and cards, viewing upcoming events such as designer appearances and promos, and the ability to follow the Neiman Marcus blog, read catalogs and watch videos. The app allows a customer to search by department to locate or contact sales associates at any Neiman Marcus store.  

  • Alliance Data renews agreement with HSN

    Dallas -- Alliance Data Systems, a global provider of data-driven marketing and loyalty solutions, today announced its Retail Services business has signed a multi-year renewal agreement to continue providing both private label and co-brand credit card services for lifestyle and entertainment retailer HSN.
