  • Disney-inspired Starbucks opens at Downtown Disney

    Seattle -- Starbucks has opened up its first company-operated store on a Disney property, at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, Calif. The 5,600-sq.-ft. store is the first of several company-operated locations that are scheduled open across Disney properties in the United States.

  • RetailMeNot updates mobile app

    Austin, Texas -- RetailMeNot has updated its free RetailMeNot Coupons app for iPhone and Android users. Existing users will be prompted to update their RetailMeNot Coupons app to access the new features.

    New users can download the free RetailMeNot Coupons app by visiting the iTunes App Store or Google Play. The updated version includes significant consumer-facing enhancements to the experience, including:

  • Genesco invests in omnichannel capabilities following Q4 results

    Genesco chairman, president and CEO Robert J. Dennis said that the company’s overall fourth-quarter results were lower than expected, thanks to inconsistent sales patterns and severe winter storms that affected its key markets.

    All is not grim, however, as the company is making investments to bolster its omnichannel capabilities, which Dennis expects will protect near-term profitability and allow the company to expand its retail footprint.

  • Amazon increasing price of Prime subscription service

    New York -- Amazon is increasing the annual membership of its Amazon Prime service from $79 a year to $99. The online giant, which made the announcement on its homepage, had suggested last year that increased shipping costs would force it to raise the annual price of its premium membership.

    The price hike takes effective in seven says. Until then, customers can still sign up for the $79 rate. The increased fee will be charged when users renew their Prime memberships.

  • Personalization push intensifies at CVS

    The digital marketing initiative known as “My Weekly Ad” is helping CVS Caremark grow sales and deepen engagement with loyal customers by providing them with personalized versions of the retailer’s weekly ad.

    The My Weekly Ad program was launched last fall and Wednesday morning during a presentation at the IRI Summit CVS Caremark SVP of merchandising and retail pricing Judy Sansone shared additional details regarding the program.

    San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Shopatron is unveiling its Shopatron Customer Care Suite, which includes a new set of APIs available within the Shopatron Developer applications, and a new customer care interface. Shopatron launched the two platforms to complement its order management technology, allowing retailers to intelligently manage the customer experience anytime, anywhere, and by any authorized user.
