  • Arctic Cat runs EBay store with Shopatron

    Thief River Falls, Minn. – Powersports brand Arctic Cat has expanded its e-commerce business by launching an EBay store using the Shopatron Marketplace ship-from-store application. The SaaS solution provides EBay customers with access to a range of official Arctic Cat gear and merchandise and expands inventory to include goods located in stores.

According to the new Valassis Shopper Marketing Report, nearly eight in 10 consumers consider themselves value seekers, self-described as promotion sensitive or price conscious.

  • Weiss Markets affected by shortened holiday in Q4

    Weis Markets cited a shortened holiday season among the reasons for a decline in fourth quarter and year-to-date sales.

    The company reported $686.4 million in fourth-quarter sales for the 13-week period ended Dec. 28, 2013, representing a decline of 1.1% as compared to the year-ago period. Comparable store sales for the same period were down 3.5%.

    In 2013, the company's sales totaled $2.7 billion, down 0.3% compared to 2012. Comparable store sales for the 52-week period ending Dec. 28 declined 2.6%.

  • Target CIO resigns; chain to overhaul info security

    New York -- Target Corp.’s chief information office, Beth Jacob, is resigning, effective Wednesday, as the retailer continues to deal with the fallout from its widespread data breach. Jacob has been in the position since 2008.
     
    In a statement released to the Associated Press, Target's president and CEO Gregg Steinhafel said the chain is overhauling its information security and compliance structure.  
        

  • Report: Phishing scam targets Netflix customers

    Los Gatos, Calif. – A new phishing scam is reportedly targeting Netflix customers and trying to obtain their financial and personal information. According to the Huffington Post, the scam provides customers with a phony Netflix log-in page that brings them to another fake Netflix page informing them their account has been suspended for unusual activity and providing a fraudulent customer service number.

  • Walgreens to present net zero-energy store at SPECS

    New York -- Walgreens will share learnings, insights and real-time performance data gained from building and operating the retail industry’s first net zero-energy store at Chain Store Age’s 50th annual SPECS Conference, March 9 -12, Gaylord Texan Hotel,  Grapevine, Texas.  
     

  • RadioShack to close up to 1,100 stores

    Fort Worth, Texas -- RadioShack Corp. said it plans to close up to 1,100 stores, approximately one-fifth of its total, and also announced a disappointing holiday season and a wider quarterly loss. The shutterings will leave the chain, whose turnaround appears to be still far off, with over 4,000 locations, including more than 900 dealer franchise locations.
