  • Survey - Lack of assistance, engagement hinders e-commerce

    Sunnyvale, Calif. - The number one reason why some consumers avoid online shopping is the lack of in-person assistance and proactive engagement from brands. According to a survey of 2,500 consumers about their online shopping plans and preferences for the upcoming holiday season conducted by e-commerce technology provider Moxie, 72% of survey respondents indicated that they want brands to proactively engage with them online, especially when they are struggling on a website.   
  • Ann Inc. profit, sales hit by weak traffic; inventory surges at Ann Taylor

    New York – Ann Inc. beat Wall Street expectations for the third quarter with net income of $29.9 million, down 27% from $41.2 million the same quarter a year earlier. Pre-tax and after-tax charges associated with the closure of the Madison Avenue Ann Taylor store helped drive down net income.

    Duluth, Minn. – Specialty fashion retailer Maurices has partnered with interactive video provider Zentrick to upgrade its "How to Wear It" and "What to Wear: Summer 2014" online video campaigns. By integrating interactive elements into six 'look'-inspired videos, Zentrick and Maurices logged 15.2% engagement and a 7.4% click-through rate (CTR).   
  • Williams-Sonoma beats Street with Q3 profits, sales

      San Francisco – Williams-Sonoma Inc. surpassed Wall Street expectations with its profit and sales results for the third quarter of fiscal 2014. Earnings per share increased 17% to $0.68 from $0.58 in the same quarter the previous fiscal year.   Retail net revenues increased 3% to $556 million from $540 million, primarily driven by West Elm and Pottery Barn, partially offset by a decrease in Williams-Sonoma due to eight fewer stores
