  • Kohl’s honored by EPA for long-term commitment to environment

    Menomonee Falls, Wis. -- Kohl’s Department Stores was honored with the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2012 Energy Star Award for Sustained Excellence at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes Kohl’s long-term commitment to protecting the environment through energy efficiency initiatives. Kohl’s was recognized by EPA in 2010 and 2011 as an Energy Star Partner of the Year, and in 2011 also became the first retailer to be named an EPA Green Power Partner of the Year for three consecutive years.

    Folsom, Calif. -- Commercial refrigeration manufacturer Hill Phoenix said Wednesday it teamed with Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market to open a new GreenChill Platinum Award-winning Fresh & Easy store in Folsom, Calif.

    GreenChill is an E.P.A. partnership with food retailers to reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease their impact on the ozone layer and climate change.

    Minneapolis -- Best Buy Co. said Friday it has named Stephen Gillett as executive VP and president of Best Buy Digital and Global Business Services, effective March 14.

    Gillett was previously executive VP Digital Ventures, and chief information officer at Starbucks, charged with leading the company’s efforts to enhance the overall global business operations and improve the customer experience through the use of innovative technology and digital experiences worldwide.
