  • Retail container imports to increase 9.9% in October

    Washington, D.C. -- The Global Port Tracker report released Tuesday by the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates found that import cargo volume at the nation’s major retail container ports is expected to increase 9.9% in October as merchants wrap up the annual shipping cycle for holiday merchandise.

    Chicago -- Brightstar Corp., a global provider of diversified solutions for the wireless device industry, announced that the company has been selected by Best Buy Co. to manage the retailer's entire inventory of returned mobile devices in the U.S.

  • Ashley Furniture, Pet Supplies Plus to open at Fairlawn Town Centre

    Fairlawn, Ohio -- Charter Realty & Development announced it has arranged -- in conjunction with Julius Feinblum Real Estate -- for a 27,587-sq.-ft. lease for Ashley Furniture and an 11,284-sq.-ft. lease for Pet Supplies Plus in the Fairlawn Town Centre in Fairlawn, Ohio.

    The shopping center is anchored by Target, Home Goods, Giant Eagle, Marc’s and USPS.

  • Wakefern Food Corp.’s DC to go solar

    Wall, N.J. -- Wakefern Food Corp. and NJR Clean Energy Ventures, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, have started work on the installation of a rooftop solar system at a Wakefern Food Corp. distribution center in Keasbey, N.J. The 2.4-megawatt solar system will supply power to a refrigerated warehouse, helping lower Wakefern’s long-term electricity costs and its greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Sears turns to Seattle for propane proof

    Sears has equipped 27 of its Home Services division vehicles with engines that run on propane gas as part of a broader energy management effort.

    The efficiency initiative involving 27 Roush CleanTech Ford E-250 cargo vans fueled by propane autogas will be deployed in the Sears Home Services Seattle fleet.
